WASHINGTON (NNPA) It was a telephone call that Tracy Martin, father of the 17-year-old African-American killed in Sanford, Fla. by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman, worried that he would never receive.
Forty-five days after an unarmed Trayvon Martin had been killed while walking back to a home he was visiting after purchasing a bag of Skittles and a can of Arizona iced tea, Special Prosecutor Angela Corey called to notify Trayvons parents that Zimmerman had finally been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
I was very emotional when I got the call from Ms. Corey, Tracy Martin recounted. I feel like Trayvon is looking down on us and saying, Thank you, dad. Martin reflected on that telephone call when he was interviewed earlier by Al Sharpton. The civil rights leader played that video tape Saturday, the last day of his National Action Network convention in the nations capital.
When asked what she wants others to take away from the case, Trayvons mother, Sybrina Fulton, replied, I hope that they remember that he was an unarmed teen, he was a minor shot and killed by an adult, and that his parents fought to make sure justice was served, Fulton said. I hope that this doesnt happen to any other child or adult. I hope that this brings people together.
Although delegates at the convention connected with Trayvons parents Saturday by videotape they appeared in person earlier in the convention two other women who lost relatives to violence were present at the session on Howard Universitys campus.
Nicole Paultre Bells fiancee was gunned down in 2006 by plainclothes police officers in New York City hours before they were supposed to get married. The officers fired 50 times at Sean Bell and two of his friends who were injured. Three officers were charged with manslaughter but acquitted.
Also sharing the stage was Kadiatou Diallo, whose son, was reaching for his wallet and ID when he was killed in a hail of bullets. Four plainclothes New York police officers fired 41 bullets at the unarmed Guinean immigrant.
The deaths of Sean Bell and Amadou Diallo received widespread publicity, largely because of the efforts of Al Sharpton. But there are dozens, if not hundreds, of Sean Bells and Amadou Diallos who remain unknown to the public.
On Saturday, many of their parents walked slowly to the microphone at the NAN convention to share their painful stories and grief.
The only thing that give us strength is to know that people care and people continue to support our struggle, said Diallos mother.
Melanie Campbell the executive director and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, Inc. told convention delegates. Its very critical that we dont miss the moment and make sure we turn this moment into a movement.

I would not go that far, but ....
” ... his parents fought to make sure justice was served, (Sybrina) Fulton said.”

Hold one hand out in front of you
and
cup one behind and see which gets
filled fastest, Sybrina.
There ain’t no Obama money here darlin’.
Hmm, black churches teach that Hell is up?
Hopefully the media gets sued up one side and down the other and Zimmerman retires off this virtual lynching.
Pray for America
I bet they were colorful.
At the time this man was shot, the police were looking for a serial rapist. The question I asked and never got an answer to was "Did the rapes stop after the police shot Diallo?"
Thanks for the time you have taken to keep these developments to the fore. This incident is a very serious pushing of the envelope of credibility of the “civil rights” program. The pendulum will swing back, but not likely until many imagined wrongs have been invented and ballooned.
The one thing that should be learned from this is that it is NEVER a good idea to try to beat the snot out of someone that MIGHT or DOES have a gun. A rousing endorsement for Constitutional Carry.
Doesn't sound much like they want to 'bring people together', do they?
BTW, still awaiting the autopsy report. Toxicology? Gunshot wound: Up? Down? Sideways? Back? Front? GF Phone records. Skittles? Iced Tea? Surveillance Camera from 7-11?
BTW, still the best source for info: The Sanford City Manager's Report. Read it. The MSM hasn't. Sharpton and Jesse haven't. The Resident hasn't. The Pundits haven't. A simple perusal of the document would end about 99.9% of the boolshiite.

The Martin crew does not want this to go to trial because of the made up crap will be exposed.
They want Zimmerman to plea and do some time. Once he is inside, somebody already on death row will kill him.
And it will most likely be financed by you know who.
“Where were his parents...”
A lot of parents today, of all colors and creeds, have a lot of competition for their kids attention. LOADS of negative TV, music, peer pressure, etc. persuade the kids to make poor decisions that have lifelong consequences.
Additionally, lots of parents are only biological ‘contributors’ to the creation of new life. Too many one parent homes, parents with drug/alcohol/entitlement dependencies etc. So it is difficult for the kids on all fronts.
Obviously, I am not optimistic about the future of the USA and especially the future for my granddaughters.
And how many of thousands and thousands of African-Americans are killed by African-American sons who look like Obama?

“..........A few years ago, the right reverend Jesse Jackson had this to say: “There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”
