For those of you who did not get or see the memo from Vince Haley, Mitt still has some major problems. Here is the Haley Memo, in relevant part:
[H]ere is the crucial news about why --- with 17 states to go -- the Romney forces are worried, worried that the frontrunner's weakness is surfacing again in the Republican primaries. Here are two crucial news items causing Romneyites to worry.
-- Despite much pressure from Romney forces, Colorado Republicans last weekend at their Denver convention surprised political observers by electing - and by a large margin -- more uncommitted than committed delegates. (The hard count was 23 uncommitted to only 13 for Romney.) This was widely interpreted to mean that rank and file Republicans are still very wary of Governor Romney's candidacy.
-- The other news is from Washington where the news media is all abuzz about a recent Washington Post/ABC poll. Here's the transcript from a recent Meet the Press.
MEET THE PRESS HOST -- .... I want to show you what I think is the most telling number of the week that's come out in polls and it was from The Washington Post/ABC poll that talked about his favorability ratings. Right now Mitt Romney's favorable ratings, 34 percent; unfavorable, 50 percent that is unheard of for a leading contender at this stage of the process.Yes, that's right. At a time when he should be zooming up in the polls Governor Romney is only seen favorably by 34% of the voters. And in other polls out this week he is also losing to Barack Obama.
Look back historically at what Republicans have enjoyed and if you look at the approval ratings that John McCain had at this point in the campaign, 53 percent; George W. Bush and Bob Dole, 49 percent. Again, Mitt Romney down at 34 percent.
Now add to this bad news the fact Romney is once against reinforcing all the doubts conservative have about him. For example, you may have noticed that just two days ago he was again conceding the class warfare argument on economics to the Democrats by saying he wants to take away mortgage deductions for people in some income levels. And just this week he was saying that he is already trying to switch his immigration stand.
So you can see why those saying Mitt Romney has the nomination wrapped up and the race over have plenty of reason for worry.
Please. You’ve been here too long to talk like that. We could have run a reincarnated Ronald Reagan and Z would have still won. 2008 was the year of the squishy independent to pretend they were on a higher plane than the rest of us and they were gonna elect America’s first black president.
If anybody in the GOP “threw” the election to Z, it was the grossly incompetent Michael Steele and the candidate himself.
Your reality ignores an alarming fact that we are just not that into mittens.Hes a freaking democrat and we wont vote for him.
The GOP-e is heavily hitting the “It’s done, Mitt won” drum because they want the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to start flowing to their guy.
It’s not done and why they’re pulling out all stops to ridicule and diminish Newt.
Just because a handful of freepers wont vote for him doesnt mean he wont get the nomination.
A handful? Where the hell have you been? DU?
Most Americans think that the MSM’s “most electable” candidate is unelectable. This no doubt comes as a shock to those living inside the bubbles of D.C. , Hollywood, Wall Street and Journalism.
What you said
100 Thumbs UP.
Yeah, a handful.
Interesting to note that Raider Sam has only been freeping since ‘08, the year-0 of the Zer0
that was my intention!
Gingrich correctly pointed out that he has only half the delegates he needs
He can STILL be stopped from getting the required number before the convention
I WANT A BROKERED CONVENTION
I know hes a troll but sometimes I cant help but play with them.
So how long have you worked for the mittens campaign? 04 or 08? Come on you can tell us.We’re only a handful afterall.
Are you really that childish?
Do you mind?
LOL
I have been thinking of a different sports analogy. The people who think anyone other than Romney is going to end up with the nomination remind me of the basketball coach on the wrong end of a 15 point deficit with 42 seconds left and he starts fouling. The outcome is not in doubt, only the final score. It's also time to face another reality: short of plane crashes, plagues of frogs, alien invasion or alternate timelines, one of two people is going to be president next January, Romney or zero. I will do what I can to keep 0bama from a second turn. Folks can either choose to do the same, or pout that we don't have the most conservative candidate. But, taking your ball and going home ain't going to defeat 0bama.
I like your analogy.
