The problem is that we don’t have a good conservative candidate that people want to vote for.
Solve that problem and then we will have it made.
Newt and Santorum were no Reagan.
Newt is overcooked, Santorum was undercooked.
“...overcooked,..undercooked.”
?!?!?!

True, the whole (R) slate of candidates was uninspiring. Who picked those candidates? Did they volunteer? Did some nameless/faceless power-broker arrange it? Were there other better candidates who were blocked -or- just not interested?
I’m not sure how much say in the matter we peons have in the selection or primary candidate selection process, but it seems to me (unless someone has heard different) that this time we just sat back and let someone else fill that “candidate menu” out for us. What I mean by that (and I’m as much in the dark as the next guy) is that I show up on primary election day and I have a list of candidates to select from that I had no say in — primarily because I don’t know *how* to have a say in it.
If we want better candidates, I think *we* need to find them, groom them, propose them, support & promote them fervently. But that’s just another thing that’s easier said than done.
