I read an article a couple of weeks ago that said one nuke would be insufficient to destroy D.C. I thought “guess they’ll need two.”

Here is an interesting page. It shows the impact of various sizes ( including an asteroid strike ). You can choose any city in the world.

Great link. It shows that a 50 MT Tsar Bomba (the largest nuclear device ever actually tested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_weapons_testing) would wipe out DC. People as far away as Columbia MD would receive second degree burns etc.
