First Lady Michelle Obama, accepting an anti-war petition at a fundraiser in San Francisco last week, told the CodePink member who presented her with 20,000 signatures, Keep up the great work, the organizations co-founders say.
CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin wrote a blogpost today about the First Ladys visit.
In it, she related what she said happened behind the scenes when Kristin Hull, a CodePink supporter one who paid to get into the $500 a head fundraiser personally met up with Michelle Obama at the California Academy of Sciences last Friday.
After Hull handed Mrs. Obama a petition urging peacekeeping not war with Iraq a document signed by luminaries like Gloria Steinham, Alice Walker and Eve Ensler Ms. Obama thanked Hull for her advocacy and said, Keep up the great work, writes Benjamin.
As Hull was walking away after her photo with the First Lady, Michelle Obama grabbed her hand, squeezed it and said, We really need you.
Weve been in touch with another CodePink activist co-founder, Jodie Evans, who also related the story, via email.
San Francisco Chronicle comrade Joe Garofoli, the pool reporter for the Obama event, wrote about the presentation of the petition to Mrs. Obama during the fundraiser. But he was not allowed to shoot video and was escorted inside only to hear the First Ladys 22-minute address.

Guess her Public Service spot thanking Military Families for their service is just political bullshit then.
The Code Pinkoes hate the US Military..
The problem isn’t the RaceMarxists, it is the >50% of Americans who would vote to put these anti-American, destructive radicals into power.
That huge demographic reality is a MUCH more fundamental, and troubling problem than the simple matter of the Kenyan and his whites-hating, thieving globetrotter of a wife.
Code Pink 'Bundles' for Barack, 4/14/2008
"The co-founder of the radical anti-war group Code Pink [Jodie Evans] has bundled more than $50,000 for Sen. Barack Obamas presidential campaign, and pro-troops groups are demanding that he return the money."

November 22, 1970 -- During a fund-raising tour for GI deserters, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and the Black Panthers, Jane Fonda is quoted in the Detroit Free Press as telling a University of Michigan audience:
"I would think that if you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would someday become communist," and "The peace proposal of the Viet Cong is the only honorable, just, possible way to achieve peace in Vietnam."
Fonda made the following statement at the University of Texas:
"We've got to establish a Socialist economic structure that will limit private profit-oriented businesses. Whether the transition is peaceful depends on the way our present governmental leaders react. We must commit our lives to this transition ...... We should be very proud of our new breed of soldier. It's not organized but it's mutiny, and they have every right." --Karen Elliott Dallas Morning News December 11, 1971

"As a gesture of solidarity, the Vietnamese who [Bernardine] Dohrn met in Budapest presented her with a ring made from an American aircraft shot down over North Vietnam. Bill Ayers would receive a similar ring while meeting with Vietnamese communists in Toronto. He later recalled being so moved by the gesture that he 'left the room to cry.' "
I don’t know which Chron reporter has a bigger hard-on for Obama—Joe Garifoli or Carla Marinucci.
Iran won’t bomb your country. A statement only a radical anti american socialist democrat could make. They won’t bomb your country but they sure as hell will probably bomb Israel. I guess that cool if it ain’t your country, huh. It’s all over politically for this crowd. The election of obama has exposed the left to the american people like never before. Witness NBC doctoring the Zimmerman tape as another example of the total fraud of the left.
