We've tried this ad nauseum. Our "Representatives" don't wish to represent us any more than we wish to be bothered by the government. The American "experiment" has failed and is turning into a crusty mess at the bottom of history's petri dish.
Sadly, the intellectual genius and spiritual enlightenment of our Founders is lacking on one or both fronts in an overwhelming majority of our electorate and trying to find someone or a group of men who would be willing to pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor will be akin to searching for a conservative in the Republican party. Too many wolves among us.
The American “experiment” SUCCEEDED.
Alas, the petri dish got infected, and needs a good dose of chlorine.
If you get pneumonia, you don’t just go “oh well, humans were a great idea but I guess rank bacteria wins, time to expire” - you give the host a massive dose of antibiotics.

IF it has failed, it is because We, the people have done little to keep it alive. Contrast your life today to that of the Founding Fathers. Could we give up half as much? A quarter? An eighth perhaps? We have failed to heed Franklin’s warning. We have failed to hear Jefferson’s plea.
It is useless to try and work within the current system. Look at what has happened to the “TEA Party” candidates we helped to elect. They are all falling over themselves to out-RHINO the RHINOs.
