Are you familiar with the website Muckety? On this you can look up influential people and see how they are connected. For instance, the organization you just referenced is run by Edward C. Johnson and his daughter Abigail also participates. They are both listed on the Forbes billionaire list, along with George Soros. But they did not support Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign. It is a very interesting site!

Thanks! That was a great link. It broadly addressed some of the more negative issues. I don’t think the full story is being told on the financials. But what can you do? And the attempt to manipulate young minds really bothers me. But this article is a basic format to share with others who may be wondering how they should approach the issue and where areas are that they can redirect to for less controversy if they are interested in helping with causes in Africa.

On February 29 and March 1, 2012 the National Defense Authorization Budget was put before the House and Senate Armed Services Committees with AFRICOM Commander Gen. Carter Ham as well as the House Committee on Foreign Affairs with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for review and questioning.
The Lord’s Resistance Army came up several times and both Gen. Ham and Secretary Clinton defended the measures that allocated funding to counter-LRA efforts.

While Invisible Children’s finances are murky, there is evidence (http://www.usaid.gov/our_work/cross-cutting_programs/transition_initiatives/country/uganda/rpt0309.html) showing that it is a project supported by USAID, the “civilian foreign aid” agency run out of the NSC and the State Department that shares “a close working relationship with the CIA.”

In 2009, the USAID boasted (http://www.usaid.gov/our_work/cross-cutting_programs/transition_initiatives/country/uganda/rpt0309.html) about its “speed” in addressing issues in Uganda and the Acholi sub-region of Africa and admitted supporting Invisible Children.
Apparently mindful of this connection, several blogs containing references to USAID posted by Invisible Children or its supporters have been scrubbed from the internet. “USAID” was a tag on the group’s tumblr.
