Anti Gun Rights Group Loses Again- Believes No Guns Policies And Signs On Campus Save Lives

The Brady Anti Gun Rights Campaign has ramped up its opposition to firearms on college campuses again after yet another defeat in the Courtroom. This comes after the Colorado Supreme Court held that the University of Colorado had limited power to ban guns on campus after the State passed a concealed carry law. A Colorado lower Court Judge upheld the ban but he was reversed by the State's highest Court.

The new President of the organization said, "This is a dangerous ruling. Lives have the potential to be lost as a result. We urge parents, students, and faculty to demand that the University do all it can to keep guns off campus and prevail on their elected officials to reverse this ruling. The University of Oregon has reinstated its gun ban despite a similar court ruling. The Brady Center will help the University of Colorado work to keep young people safe from guns. As last week's tragedy in Ohio reminded us all, nothing is more important."

That murdering student was not stopped from coming to a "gun free" Ohio school with a gun and killing people even though there was a school policy and laws against bringing guns to campus. Let alone being stopped by laws against murder.

This group's naive response to the Court's ruling is actually what is dangerous. Yes, lives do have the potential to be lost when helpless victims cannot fight back. This anti gun organization looks you straight in the eye when they say, "We urge parents, students, and faculty to demand that the University do all it can to keep guns off campus." They have already done that with a "no guns" policy and laws that has never worked anywhere when a crazed lunatic enters the campus to kill. There is nothing that anyone...

Yeah, those no guns, no knives, no weapons signs on all of the doors act like a force field around each building. I’m sure that all of the doors on the Ohio school also had those signs and everyone knows how that stopped a determined idiot from misusing a weapon and committing murder to achieve his wishes. He would have obtained a weapon regardless of any laws banning them.

The "Brady" campaign, launched by the wife of a severely brain damaged Jim Brady, who exploited the tragically damaged remains of her wounded husband to agitate against other people's rights to self-defense, is not some altruistic effort to protect anyone--certainly not if it is to be jugged by the rationality of its adherents.

The basic principle is that free people have a right to self-defense; that they do not have to surrender choice of weapons to criminals and thugs; that they have a responsibility for living in a law respecting society, and being prepared is amenable to that responsibility.

Put another way, it was never surprising that Switzerland had an extremely low crime rate. It was Swiss policy that every household be armed; that Swiss youth be prepared from their teens on to be responsible, armed defenders of the Swiss way of life. George Washington tried, unsuccessfully to get Congress to appropriate funds for a similar policy in the newly independent United States.

See Right & Duty To Keep & Bear Arms.

Opening arguments set today in Virginia Tech shooting suit trial

Attorney Robert Hall will outline his case against the state today following the seating of a jury of seven, plus two alternates, in the wrongful death lawsuit being heard in Montgomery County Circuit Court.

The state will also offer its defense of Virginia Tech officials in the April 16, 2007, slaughter on the Blacksburg campus, a few miles from the Christiansburg courtroom. It was the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Had someone been armed, how many lives could have been saved?

The apparent irrationality of the Left on the subject of weapons closely parallels their irrationality on other subjects. It has long been obvious that most of them suffer from a fear or neurosis driven compulsion that has become a substitute for the ability to actually reason.

I wish more Conservatives would grasp this, because understanding it helps one better understand how to counter the spread of the malady. Too often, our spokesmen are cowed by the pretensions of bellicose "intellectuals," who actually cannot defend their positions, if they are challenged on their compulsion driven premises.

While this compulsive aspect may be more clearly seen in the efforts to level society (See Reason Or Compulsion; or Compassion Or Compulsion, it is also present in both the attacks on normal sexuality & in the idiotic idea that disarming the law abiding is an answer to the criminality of others.

See my reply #7.

What those signs do is to reassure the compulsion driven neurotic that "someone is doing something"--making a statement! It is the same feel better about your own inadequacies, that makes an unprepossessing feminist, who has no personal desire to be a firewoman or woman Marine, feel something worthwhile has happened, when another gal wins a case forcing a city to hire her in the Fire Department, even though she can not pass the essential physical exam--and thus may actually increase the public danger in the event of a fire!

Yes, it is a mental disorder.

I find that by asking a few simple questions of the unhinged, they tend to come completely unglued when they realize there is no logical defense of their positions. It is at that point the vulgar language and threats erupts.

And what is truly disturbing is that these ranting compulsion driven neurotics are staffing many departments of the present Administration in Washington.
