Rick Santorum Looks To Georgia In Dalton Speech Visit comes on the heels of Newt Gingrich By James Harrison March 2nd 2012
DALTON, Ga. Speaking in the same town visited by Newt Gingrich less than 48 hours earlier, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum told a group of 150 voters that the fight leading up to next week's Super Tuesday primaries had already become a two-person race.
"You give me the opportunity here by helping me win the state of Georgia, and this race will change," Santorum told the crowd, which remained seated in Dalton's city council chamber for the majority of his 35-minute speech. "This will beit is alreadya two-person race."
Alluding to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Santorum's comments came on a morning when a recent poll showed him coming in second place among Georgia voters. But the far away leader of the poll wasn't Romney.
It was Gingrichwho was shown leading in his home state by 15 percentage points. Georgia offers 76 delegates next week. Santorum never mentioned Gingrich by name, instead opting to skewer President Barack Obama's health care plan, linking its origins to Romney's tenure as governor. "Almost 50 percent of Americans now get some sort of benefit from the government, and a little less than 50 percent don't pay any federal taxes," Santorum said. "But now everybody under Obamacare will receive government benefits.
Everybody. Everybody will now be dependent in some way upon the federal government for something relatively importantyour life. And once that happens, this experiment is over because we will have dependence. We will not have free people."
The candidate also emphasized his belief that families are the foundational unit of American life, and branded himself the only social conservative in the GOP field.

Santorum, YOU need to get out and support the only candidate with real experience ... Newt !
I just wish Mr. Santorum would focus on Ohio and let Newt take Georgia. The most important thing is to stop Romney from acquiring delegates.
Agree. I don't know who's making these decisions for Santorum but they're way off. He should be Ohio 24/7 at this point.
If it’s a two-person race in GA, then Rick is out of it. He just slipped to third place in the Landmark/Rosetta Stone poll conducted for WSB-TV.

Yeah where is the reciprocity for Newt not competing in MI. Newt got played by the Santorum people. I hope he figures that out and goes after Saint Ricky from here on out.
Can somebody throw Santorum a clue. He need to take OH from Mittens not Fight Newt in his home state of GA.
Right now Santorum has fallen to 3rd in GA and at risk of losing OH. I personally think Newt can get 50%+ in the rural districts if he does have to fight Mittens and Santorum in Ga.
He needs to Focus his time and resources and not go head to head with Newt strength in GA. Mittens is the enemy.
Rick seems like the kid that won't share his halloween candy after everyone else shared with him. All your is his, all his is his. Nasty Sort.
Hell, his kids are already trying to figure out how to change their last name and get out of the house.
What a 'tard.
At least Santorum won the trifecata and shared the delegates with Romney in MI, Gingrich is self-destructing with wild looney pie-in-the sky permanent moon base colonies and $2.50 gal/gasoline. Wonder who is falling for this stuff? Speaking of being “shamed” In FL Gingrich lost every major demographic to Romney!
And got ZERO committed delegates as a result.
Please, think strategically. We must ensure NOBODY enters Tampa with 1,144 delegates.
