My generation is probably the last to have bought into the California dream-we are the Golden State, always prosperous before and always will be. Yet our last great enterprise-Silicon Valley-is becoming more and more a memory. Unless our new Hispanic and Asian neighbors can make a go of entrepreneurship in these restricted times-and granted, there are people who want to move up in these groups-I’d say we’re done for. Increasingly, California is looking like a 21st century Argentina; just shut off the water valves to the farms they way Peron destroyed the meat industry and we’re set on our course.
Say, what are you complaining about? We’re going to have HIGH SPEED RAIL built by the Chinese, paid for by not-taxed-enough citizen taxpayers, starting nowhere and ending miles from nowhere.
Let’s count our blessings.
