Agree totally; but that isn't the premise of the article.
What the author is saying is that the "liberal" support for illegals is (a) for political and fiscal gain, and (b) not serving those illegals too very well.
While on the other hand, "conservative" support for border security is (a) the law and (b) ultimately beneficial to any and all, immigrant and home grown, people already here.
Classic demagogue: The worse the better. After all if no crisis, no reason for the demagogue to gather power to himself.
