Gingrich Calls for Permanent Lunar Colony
Gingrich talks Space with Industry Leaders
The GE Years: What Made Reagan Reagan [Newt said this book explained Ronald Reagan's leadership]
Hey Rick?
Ever heard of the ‘private sector’?
http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/01/23/2604651/gop-wants-private-sector-to-rescue.html
Staying in the race just to help your pal Mitt Romney is crass politics, Rick.
I would rather give NASA a dollar than a welfare momma.
2020 China Russia and India establish unified lunar colonies and secure contracts with thousands of companies for access.
President Rick says whatever. The real money is in sweater vests!
The US space program has produced countless benefits for the American economy and its citizens—It was taxpayer money that was well spent, IMHO.
Santorum is an unimaginative, narrow-minded nitwit who prefers to hand-out tax dollars indiscriminately (look at his voting record) when he’s not kissing the butt of Arlen Spector.
Oh yeah, Rick. Didn’t just the threat of Star Wars (not the Lucas movie) bring the soviets to there knees?
I do not want to live under the chicoms and ivan... and I grew up watching the technology created to take us to the moon... change the world. When you text your mates just remember this... much of the silicon that creates the virtual world we enjoy came from that early research... one way or the other.
“We must do this and the other things... not because they are easy... but because they are hard". I would rather jobs be created to keep America on top of the 21st Century than spend that money on Solyndra or Acorn. Our Military certainly needs to partner in this... they need the advantage to defend us during this dangerous century. If we cut all the domestic giveaways out and get SS and medicare under control and put in place pro business agendas and laws... we can afford to back this endeavor and it will pay back far more than we can imagine... I know... I lived through it before and I want to witness it again before I die.

In agreement here! Bow out, Rick. Your country is calling. We need to put the Willard threat behind us, once and for all.
Then there are the engineers, the scientists, the doctors, the historians connected to these "out there" projects. Deny them or encourage them?
I agree.
At the risk of hijacking this thread: this might an appropriate moment for me to add an apology. I made some pretty harsh comments about the other Rick (Perry) a couple of weeks ago here. In retrospect, and with the benefit of hindsight, I’ve had chance to re-evaluate and re-examine some of those remarks and opinions in the light of Perry’s dignified exit from this nomination battle. I don’t necessarily believe that everything I said was incorrect, but some comments I made were definitely unjustified and over-the-top.
There’s been too much of the circular firing-squad amongst conservative candidates and their supporters during this primary process, and I’ll hold my hands up and admit that I’ve contributed to it at times myself. I should know better.
Whatever faults Perry has (we all have them) he clearly does have the ability to put his country before himself when the situation demands it. That’s a rare ability in a politician of any ilk today, and as I spoke ill of the guy in public here, I guess it’s only right that I should apologise to him (and you) in a similar forum.
I hope that before the Florida primary I’ll be able to say the same about the other Rick, but I won’t hold my breath.
Rick: go figure out what this internet ‘thingy’ is all about.
If we’re not off the planet in the next 1000 years or so, the next glaciation will return us to our prehistoric state.
IMHO, Santorum, when he bows out of the race will either endorse no one, or come out for Romney. Tonight’s debate will tell the story if he goes after Newt and gives Romney a pass.
A Chinese moon base will be a total surrender for us. It’s checkmate. There is no defense for our satellite fleet which is the keystone of our technical military advantage. Luddites can stay in their caves in Nov. Go Newt!
Manned spaceflight and bases on the moon is Newt tilting at windmills. For a nation that is broke it makes no sense and only a nation can provide the capital for moon bases.
Unmanned spaceflight is much cheaper, more practical and capable of expanding the area of operations.
I can’t believe there are people who think going into a space is a silly idea. What a devolved civilization this country has become.
I love space exploration and expanding scientific frontiers. I even applaud some public moneys into NASA but would prefer most coming from the private sector (sorry, i am getting so sick of that phrase).
But at a time like this? No. The reason Gingrich is out front is because we want a fighter to win the election, not because we want a megalomaniac dreamer.
Santorum is right; Newt’s grandiose ideas are out of touch with america’s current economic situation. He’s in Florida. He’s sharing one of his fantasies to cheer them up. A steady hand line Santorum’s would do us better right now. Promise the moon later.
Dig a hole Rick.
Dig a hole.
Dig a hole Rick.
Dig a hole.
Hide in the dirt.
Where you can’t get hurt.
Dig a hole Rick.
Dig a hole.
