I agree.

At the risk of hijacking this thread: this might an appropriate moment for me to add an apology. I made some pretty harsh comments about the other Rick (Perry) a couple of weeks ago here. In retrospect, and with the benefit of hindsight, I’ve had chance to re-evaluate and re-examine some of those remarks and opinions in the light of Perry’s dignified exit from this nomination battle. I don’t necessarily believe that everything I said was incorrect, but some comments I made were definitely unjustified and over-the-top.

There’s been too much of the circular firing-squad amongst conservative candidates and their supporters during this primary process, and I’ll hold my hands up and admit that I’ve contributed to it at times myself. I should know better.

Whatever faults Perry has (we all have them) he clearly does have the ability to put his country before himself when the situation demands it. That’s a rare ability in a politician of any ilk today, and as I spoke ill of the guy in public here, I guess it’s only right that I should apologise to him (and you) in a similar forum.

I hope that before the Florida primary I’ll be able to say the same about the other Rick, but I won’t hold my breath.

I would rather give NASA a dollar than a welfare momma.

Indeed! The Apollo program fed a lot of people who had engineering and hard science degrees. Those were "heady" times that were VERY GOOD for America.

Newt’s plan is trash?

Did you listen to his Cocoa speech yesterday? Did you at least read the posts form people there? Obviously not.

Really?

You’re posting history says otherwise..

bjcoop to RitaOK

You must be a RINO supporting RINO Gingrich. I guess you love those health care mandates.

bjcoop to sissyjane

I love the Santorum haters on here. hahaha. Newt got 4th and in Iowa and 5th in New Hampshire and he’s apparently a saint

bjcoop to CASchack

Gingrich argued for 10 years for healthcare mandates. Nice try.

etc..

Changed your mind in the past couple of days?

Either you did, or you’re a chameleon.

I’m going with the later.

Santorum is looking for traction. Modern political theory urges him to tear down the front runner with any plausible tool available. Think bar room brawl survivability. I am all in favor of American preeminence in space and I feel most Americans understand the cost relative to our still gigantic GDP is acceptable. Finally,Newt may be a moonbat, but he is my moonbat. We are generally pretty angry here in SC and at the moment we appreciate “strident and harsh.”

I just wish Santorum would quit calling Newt his friend. That is NOT true. He need to cut it out, makes him look like a fool. Go home to Virgina Rick, oh! I mean Penn., Oh wait, where do you live? Ok, you don’t have to go home, just leave Florida.

As a Perry supporter, I appreciate that-—thank you. I’m proud of him for having the honor and character to do the right thing.

I agree with you about Santorum. I believe his ego is at work here.

And Marketing 101 tells you that you can only get so far by tearing down the competition. At some point you have to give the people a reason to buy what you are selling. RS's campaign hasn't matured to that point yet (and may never).

Santorum is looking for traction. ....

It would seem so, by slipstreaming behind Romney's attacks on Gingrich.

Santorum is always the first one to go negative in the debates. Sorry but it does make him look like a crybaby.

IMHO, Santorum, when he bows out of the race will either endorse no one, or come out for Romney. Tonight’s debate will tell the story if he goes after Newt and gives Romney a pass.

A Chinese moon base will be a total surrender for us. It’s checkmate. There is no defense for our satellite fleet which is the keystone of our technical military advantage. Luddites can stay in their caves in Nov. Go Newt!

Not to mention, our day to day lives depend on those commercial satellites.

Manned spaceflight and bases on the moon is Newt tilting at windmills. For a nation that is broke it makes no sense and only a nation can provide the capital for moon bases.

Unmanned spaceflight is much cheaper, more practical and capable of expanding the area of operations.
