First thought that maybe during times of extreme weak solar activity, there could be more quakes. Simply due to a weak solar wind. Less wind means less pressure on the earth as it travels about. We are now in a solar maximum though or at least some moderate to strong activity. However, it has been reported that solar wind is still weak. That theory however is on shaky ground, no pun intended.

The other possibility is that as the solar system travels through the galactic plane, perhaps there is increased turbulence traveling through the galactic plane space. However that theory is also way out there. Perhaps the solar system experiences stronger galactic gravitational forces as it travels though the galactic plane ? When exactly are we supposed to be traveling through the galactic plane ?
