Frank faced a tougher race this time, to be sure, bec ause of the redistricting..but that's NOT why he quit. He knows, they all know, that the Dems have NO chance of retaking the House..probably for the rest of the decade...so why bother...it's NO fun being in the minority in the House. That's why so many Dems have retired, and there will eb more to come..

We should start a contest..guess the date that Pelosi first predicts that the Dems retake the HOuse and shee becomes Speaker again..

Exactly, very good point. Bill Delahunt (MA-10) retired in 2010 and this time around we see that Barney Frank (MA-4)
and John Olver (MA-1; he’s very old) are not running for
re-election. Redistricting—10 seats into 9—may have lead
Olver into his decision (before Frank made his) but indeed
the “no fun if GOP controls house” is HUGE.
