That is pretty much it. I did some where I filled the jar with the broth and some where I only had a little bit of broth. I like the ones without the broth better. I only seared each side of the patty before putting them in the jar, and I usually got 4 patties in a jar.

When I prepared them, I found that the ones with broth worked pretty good for sausage gravy for biscuits and gravy.

The patties I would put in a skillet of fat and brown them some more to serve with eggs, or to make a sausage biscuit sandwich.

At any rate, I always cook any home canned foods at a simmer for about 10 minutes - just a precaution.
