What's so awful about the murder is the consistency of it: this isn't one crazy man going after his daughters for his own reasons, but reasons based on religious and cultural ideology shared by others. For every "honor murder" we hear about in the papers, there are at least eight more waiting to happen, from fathers who think exactly the same way this man did.
And yet we get TV shows like "All American Muslim."
It would be interesting to hear how DFW area Muslims are reacting to this story today - particularly the women. I'm sure there's a lot less skepticism about the motives in this case, than there is among the general, politically correct public.
I can't imagine the degree of psychic pressure such reports put on Muslim women in Western countries. The repressive effect must be chilling.
