Tonight's GOP presidential debate in Sioux City, Iowa is technically the 13th time most of the candidates will appear on stage to discuss the issues and defend their records. But this final debate before the first in the nation caucuses is not only the last; it's the one that probably matters most. The latest poll of likely Iowa Caucus participants shows that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is holding a tiny lead over his nearest competitor, but he's been at or near that position throughout the seemingly endless string of debates while the anti-Romney crowd has migrated to a different challenger each month. Tonight's performances could determine whether that crowd of mostly conservative Iowans will finally settle on one of the other contenders or settle for Governor Romney.

I hope they would focus on important issues and spend more time on those. Typically, 95% of time is spent on meaningless drivel.
Top issues:
- Amnesty
- Obamacare
- unemployment / pro-growth policies
- Spending and Medicare reform
- foreign policy
Darn! I have an ass waxing appointment!
From your article: ***Who could forget Candidate Ronald Reagan’s “I am paying for this microphone!” from the 1980 primary campaign? President Reagan later said of that moment, “I may have won the debate, the primary - and the nomination - right there.”
There just might be a winning moment like that tonight.***

Romney could say something similar: “Fox News is paying for this microphone and everything else to ensure my primary election”.
That might not win the election for him - but it would be the truth.
It will be good practice for Mitt, because that's exactly what the Democraps are going to do.
Still PIMPING Romney at your blog?
The debate tonight is another
FOX Faux News setup for Romney.
No wonder you imagine that this is important.
Still not paying close enough attention to see that I am in no way a Romney supporter?
At this very point in time, it appears the upcoming November election to decide who the next president of the US is has been decided.
We do not know, of course, who the winner is, but....
Truly now....truly....how many of the staunch supporters of the stain will change their mind between now and then and NOT "vote" for the stain? I would posit no one.
Truly now....how many of those unalterably opposed to the stain can be convinced to change their mind and come next November "vote" for the stain? Again, I would posit - no one.
So we are left with the "middle of the road-ers"...those who profess to be keeping an open mind regarding all the candidates, or who have not yet made up their mind on any one particular individual. Once more, I would posit - there are very very very few of these folks - certainly not enough to make much, if any, difference in the electoral vote count.
At no time in my memory has this country's electorate been as unalterably divided as they are now. There are those on the right and those on the left....and a tiny, insignificant lump in "the middle". And no one on either side is going to "change their stripes" and "cross over".
Sure, there are those who claim to be on either side, but who "secretly" "vote" for the candidate from the other side, but again, it is a very tiny lump of folks.
Surely there are also those of the electorate who profess to be "independent" of party affiliation.... but truth be told, they are going to "vote" either right or left. It is as highly doubtful that a lib will jump far to the right if the correct candidate wins the nomination as it is for a "right-y" to jump far to the left to support the stain if their particular candidate does not win the nomination.
So...does it matter about debates? No. Do all those upcoming political ads on radio, TV, and internet matter? No. Will the upcoming political conventions matter? No. The dye is cast; minds are made up; choices have been made. The electorate is "locked in"
So...IMHO....the election has already been decided. The winner has already been chosen. It takes only the formality of going to the polls next November and choosing. The actual choice has alreay been made.
I think someone perceives the electorate to be “locked in”.
It didn’t really address my question, but it’s better than a slap in the belly with a wet fish.
Which ones are those, specifically?
if he has 'changed his mind' about saying that anyone who 'doesn't support his tax breaks for illegals to attend college' are HEARTLESS
That is absolutely NOT what he said.
I conclude that you are a twit. An ignorant twit at that.
~~~~~~~~~~
Rick Perry said Wednesday that he was sorry for saying at last week's Republican debate that those opposed to providing an in-state tuition break to the children of illegal immigrants "did not have a heart." s Republican debate that those opposed to providing an in-state tuition break to the children of illegal immigrants
Obviously, since even after pulling up a quote you still fail
to recognize the difference between tax breaks (your words)
and in-state tuition breaks. (Perry's words)
If you're going to bash candidates it would behoove you to get your facts right.
You have yet to delineate the "illegal immigrant tax breaks" you mentioned.
Ignorant twit.
Other candidates seized on Perry's support of the tuition credits -
I may know what you meant, but I SURE know what you wrote.
And it's wrong.
You must really be embarrassed......did you read it? Why don’t you research it all yourself and get back to me....lol.
