I thought I knew most of his recordings but only recently discovered this track from an album released in 1959….the unmistakable voice of Jim Reeves singing one of the most beautiful and tender of songs, music to touch any parent’s (or grandparent’s) heart…

Very nice.

If you’re a Jim Reeves fan and haven’t watched the recordings from historic RCA Studio B on Youtube, this will send a chill up your spine:

This studio was the home of Chet Atkins’ famed Nashville Sound - Boots, Floyd, the incomparable Anita Kerr singers...and incredible talents like Gentleman Jim Reeves. There are other clips that will give you a sense of the man behind the microphone, a consummate pro.

And this is my favorite all time Jim Reeves song. From Genesis to Revelation, the message is that this world is a lost world and it’s the home of the believer.

The Browns' version of "Scarlet Ribbons" got a lot of airplay in Southern California in December of 1959. At the time, I thought it was a rather odd song. Jo Stafford released her version of the tune in late 1949, and you can listen to it here.

I meant to say this world is NOT the home of the believer.

My late Grandma (Zadie) loved Jim Reeves. This brought back fond memories of her. Thanks for posting.

My dad used to sign to us at bedtime rather than read a story all the time. This was one of the songs he sang to my sister and I (twins) when we were young. Have not heard it in years.
Thanks for posting.
