“1200 miles is just the Texas border to Mexico.”
The law that Bush signed called for only 700 miles total. Perry opposed it.
You say fence can be blown up but if that’s the case then they can just sneak through all those boots on the ground unless you propose having millions of troops all along the border. That’s even harder to pull off than a fence.
Much like the legalization of abortion or the implementation of Socialism in our Government, why do I get the feeling that the “open borders” crowd are going to eventually get their way regardless of what we want?
Maybe the fence won’t need to be built along the Rio Grande. There are other difficult areas where it is impossible to build a fence. I haven’t heard about the goal of building only 700 miles of fence. I suppose that would be do-able but still a fence can be defeated. Are we sure we want to gamble all that money building a fence and have some innovative Mexican figure out a way to defeat it? I showed what the Palestinians have done. I have seen other tactics and wrote about my idea: a 12 volt battery running a 12 volt hoist to lift you over a fence. It all comes to the bottom line. We need to have the boots on the ground in case the fence is being defeated. Picture the siege of the Alamo.
Governor Rick Perry has asked for 3000 troops on the Texas border. He knows what it will take. Do you know that we have some very sophisticated surveillance technology that can be used to detect illegals sneaking across? That technology can also get better. As that technology gets perfected, it can also be used in warfare applications. We already know what the capability of those drone aircraft. The illegals swimming across the Rio Grande will be like ducks in a barrel waiting to be plucked out of the water and told to swim back under the barrel of a .50 caliber machine gun. We should have boots on the ground with teeth.
