Ron Paul says Dick Cheney “wants to be the dictator” of GOP presidential race

As influential members of the Republican Party pick favorites for the 2012 presidential nomination, Rep. Ron Paul can’t catch a break.

While he hovers at about 10 percent in most national presidential polls of GOP primary voters, leaders of his own party–including former Vice President Dick Cheney–are openly dismissing his presidential run.

Paul, a longtime critic of Cheney’s neo-conservative foreign policy, used valuable camera time on Fox News yesterday to explain his non-interventionist foreign policy and to address Cheney’s less-than-warm feelings toward his presidential candidacy.

In the interview, Fox News reporter Neil Cavuto showed Paul a clip of Cheney essentially ruling the Texan representative out as a viable candidate.

“There are nominees that I’m not enthusiastic about,” Cheney said in the interview. “They haven’t gotten the nomination, not likely to get the nomination.”

Though Paul is not the only candidate presently undergoing the lengthy application process for the job in the Oval Office, he took the hit from Cheney personally, indicating the former vice president was not referring to Paul’s competitor Mitt Romney.

“But when he says he’ll support all Republicans except some, like myself, which means that he wants to be the dictator and say I will decide who is a true Republican or not,” Paul blasted back.

Offering support for a presidential candidate is not indicative of the person offering wanting to be dictator. What a loon.

OK let’s see. Cheney is a dictator but we have to ‘understand’ Iran and al qaeda.

Don’t you know that Cheney’s weather machine has been upgraded to control earthquakes, tsunamis, and presidential primaries?

Better Dick Cheney than the DNC’s state run “news media”.

...and Paul doesn’t really make all his stupid statements, it is Cheney’s HAARP machine zapping his brain.

Yes, Manilow said he agrees with everything Ron Paul says. Still no word on the critical Pee Wee Herman endorsement.

Excuse me? While Paul may be running as a Republican (this time) he is not a Republican. He is a Libertarian.

I have greater respect for a Democrat-turned-Republican (like Rick Perry) than I do for ANYONE who aligns themselves with Libertairans.

I’d like Ron Paul to specify what WWII planes are currently being made and where they are being made.
That’s a nice fantasy world he’s got going on in his head, he might even be able to sell it on ScyFy channel.
