Lesbian Pastor Refuses to Wed Straights Until Gays Allowed to Marry in NC

Pastor Nancy Petty, the lesbian spiritual leader at Pullen Memorial Baptist church in Raleigh, N.C., has a message for her state: Legalize same-sex marriage — or else. Until gay unions are legislatively permitted, Petty plans to no longer sign marriage licenses — an action that will potentially have a profound impact on her congregation.

In addressing same-sex marriage, Petty said the following to her congregation:

“Do we, Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, want to continue to participate in offering religious ceremonies that carry with them civil and human rights that are not afforded to all people? Or will it be our practice and the practice of our ministers to honor all marriages equally by only offering religious ceremonies, thus not acting as agents of the state and perpetuating the unjust marriage laws of our state?”

The church has a long history of advocating for progressive policies. According to ABP, its former pastor, Edwin McNeill Poteat, was a leading advocate for progressive Christianity within the Southern Baptist Convention in the early 1900s.

The pastors who followed also took stances on issues related to organized labor, the Vietnam War and, obviously, gay rights. As a result of the latter, the church was removed from the Raleigh Baptist Association, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and the Southern Baptist Convention in the 1990s.

I remember years ago when I had just finished a difficult final exam for a 2nd year engineering course. I was in a group of students discussing our possible grades. One very likable guy stated he was a bit concerned about his exam grade because the prof had often said this particular course was used to separate future grads from dropouts. This likable fellow added to the conversations that he wasn’t really worried because if he flunked he would just go back to Kentucky, I think it was, and become a preacher.

Pretty “petty” of you, Nancy. What about we are all God’s children?

Another religious leftist fraud. Fire her so she can get a real job that provides a service to all - say, as #####er.

Some things never change....

Revelation 20.
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee,
because thou sufferest that woman Jez’ebel,
which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce
my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that
commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except
they repent of their deeds.

Wrong, he didn't rewrite it but he READ it and it didn't jive with the man- made doctrine he was taught

for 1,500 years the church pretty much did O.K. with the teachings if the bible...Luther not only changed some of the teachings, he eliminated whole books from the bible...."consubstantion"????????

You're right, the church did but NOT God's children. God used Luther to set His children free. "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!"

You keep your man-made teachings - no one wants them. God's children hear and obey HIS Holy Spirit inspired WORD.

Hahahahaha ha ha ha ha ahhhh!

Ok, sorry that was hilarious. And as a retort I would like to announce the following.

I will no longer be folding matching socks together but instead throwing them all willy nilly into the drawer until gays are allowed to marry in Minsk.

Do we want to continue to confer degrees on medical school graduates while withholding them from non graduates?

I want my degree!

The whole notion of “progressive Christianity” is oxymoronic. Progressives callously view it as nothing more than another vehicle through which to advance their Marxist socio-political agenda. It’s a mask they wear in hopes of blending into healthy society while continuing their dirty work. Look at Obama and his cohorts at the Trinity United “Church of Christ” as exhibit A.

I don’t understand how any straight Christian can attend that church in the first place...especially with the big hairy triangle hanging where the cross used to be.

Why would a normal couple go to a lesbian “pastor” to get married in the first place?

How about she refused to be a Pastor until . . . . . she gets a note from God saying he’s ok with it.

WWJTBD? I'm thinking he definitely would not approve. Think of how tormented this woman's mind must be to think she can reconcile lesbianism with Christianity. Time to bring the funny farms back, padded wagons and all.

“Lesbian Baptist”? :? Does that mean she believes homosexuality is OK but baptism of infants is sinful?

"Why would a heterosexual couple want to be wed by a queer? Just ask’n"

I am guessing this is a hypothetical, that she plans to refuse in the unlikely event the issue ever comes up.

. God used Luther to set His children free. "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!"

Yup, he set them free to divorce and remarry, skip the Sacrament of Reconciliation, freed them from the restriction to attend Mass EVERY Sunday and Holy day of obligation, freed them from praying for their deceased loved ones, freed them from believing that the Eucharist is the body, blood, soul and divinity of our lord. Wow, we can believe that Christianity is sort of a social club....kind of a community center which mentions Jesus once in a while. And if we don't like this denomination, we can jump over to one of the other 20,000 groups, all of which swear that they are the true church......sorry, it doesn't work that way...remember that Christ promised, at the inception of His church, that the gates of hell would not prevail against her.......they haven't!!!
