Perry’s Transcripts Leaked…Still Waiting On Obama’s
Flopping Aces ^ | 08-05-11 | Curt

Well isn't this something...you think Fox News hacked into someone's computer to get these transcripts? Oh, I forgot, it's a Conservative so getting some transcripts isn't really that big a deal:

The Huffington Post was passed Perry's transcripts from his years at Texas A&M University by a source in Texas. The future politician did not distinguish himself so much in the classroom. While he later became a student leader, he had to get out of academic probation to do so. He rarely earned anything above a C in his courses -- earning a C in U.S. History, a D in Shakespeare, and a D in the principles of economics. Perry got a C in gym.

Perry scored poorly on the basics within his animal science major. In fall semester 1970, he received a D in veterinary anatomy, a F in a second course on organic chemistry and a C in animal breeding. He did get an A in world military systems and “Improv. of Learning” -- his only two As while at A&M.

"A&M wasn't exactly Harvard on the Brazos River," recalled a Perry classmate in an interview with The Huffington Post. "This was not the brightest guy around. We always kind of laughed. He was always kind of a joke."

Dave Weigel asks:

Cool. Where're Obama's?

It's quite interesting that the MSM only finds it worthy to investigate a candidate's background and education when it involves a conservative.

As our Academic in Chief has clearly shown us, book learning is overrated.

His grades appear better than the guy he campaigned for in 88.

A D in Shakespeare and a D in economics. He’s looking better all the time. As Dirty Harry Calahan said, “A man’s got to know his limitations.”

Agreed. (And I was wondering if it was just that Perry sounds stupid.)

To be honest, if the conservative pundits and politicians had any doodadinals, they can play this and take serious advantage of the fact that the President STILL refuses to release any of his college records.

But alas, I know, they will cower and throw the Governor overboard...

Partisan leaks like this are shameful and illegal under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).

As for the transcripts themselves what we find is that a student slacker (Perry) grew up to be a solid, responsible, and effective leader."

"Obama neither released his transcripts, nor were they “leaked” (shocker), smoked weed and alleged harder drugs (but I’m sure he wasn’t a slacker) and had NO experience leading."

Yeah, but after college Barack Hussein Obama straightened out and flew hundreds of hours as the pilot of an Air Force heavy lift C-130 and attained the rank of Captain before leaving active duty! Take that Rick Perry!

I’d rather someone who got a D in Shakespeare and a C in U.S. History than a more recent graduate who wasn’t even exposed to proper teaching of either.

If Perry was politically active at Texas A&M, it might have cut into his study time.

Just to show how delusional the leftys are, Obama in his own book, in his own words, was “not a very good student”....We don’t know what his grades, are based on what he himself has written, they weren’t good, never the less, the media ignores this and makes him out to be a freaking genius...

What’s cool is that everytime they attempt “expose” Rick, they have to EXPLAIN why they COVER UP for OBAMA.
Every time the word “jobs” is mentioned, by anyone, anywhere, they have to EXPLAIN why Rick has them and they don’t. This incliudes other candidates with the (R).

I am a lawyer and I'm familiar with the federal laws [primarily the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, et. seq.] which prevent unauthorized release of transcripts. I'm also well aware that this kind of information leaks regularly and without consequence. My question is - what legal and procedural steps did Obama take, above and beyond the protection of the federal law (which is quite ineffective for other politicians) to so effectively seal his records? I'd really like to know how that is done.

While I was in college I recall being stopped on campus by a former girlfriend who was then working in the record keeping office (registrar) and as a dig at me she pointed out the only “C” I ever received in my undergraduate program. It could only have come to her attention by searching the files (in those days still on paper - but yet, after the 1974 federal law making it illegal.) It wasn't much of a dig in that I don't care that I received a “C” in French 101, but I still recall the sensation, nearly 30 years later, of thinking “hey, you can't do that!”

For conservatives and Republicans, you can do that. With impunity.

Grades are as much a function of dedication and interest as anything. Perhaps more so.

Perry's never put himself forth as any great intellect and pokes fun at his "Animal Science" background and lack of an Ivy League education.
