(CNSNews.com) - As New York enacted a law late Friday that legalizes same-sex marriage in the state, the Roman Catholic bishops of New York released a statement saying they now expect efforts to enact laws that go after churches that insist on teaching the "timeless truths" about marriage and family.

We knew this would be coming. But they won`t go after mosques for teaching the same thing because that would be racist, islamophobic, and interfering in religious beliefs.

Pope Leo XIII saw the danger of relying on the state to define and protect marriage 130 years ago.

Until Cumuo is excommunicated and denied communion, it is all just talk. The Catholic churches talks the talk but consistently fails to walk the walk. My wife and daughter are Catholic. I told my wife until I see the church do more than talk and whine I will not be a Catholic. The church is missing a great opportunity to bring conservative Christians into it’s fold. If they wring their hands and dithers Islam will rise.

3 words for the pro gay marriage crowd when it comes to targeting the Catholic church.

Without doubt. Look for their tax-exempt status to be challenged.

Catholics have been closing their adoption agencies because of it. Next the Churches? You can bet there’ll be spies planted everywhere to report anything out of line.

How about the churches -- Catholic and Protestant---

Calling out the lawmakers who voted this monstrosity into law...
---Call them by name -- proclaim and publish!!
...And excuse them from the fellowship of the saints, and The Lord's Table...

And the Archbishop of Albany EXCOMMUNICATING the sitting governor who promoted this enabling of sin, and signed his own name to the document....

The lawmakers, governor, social engineers an militant activists have made their positions clear without apology to anyone --

The community of Judeo-Christian faith should do the same---

For once...

Draw the line between light and darkness...---

Sound the call to everyone who gladly chooses to live in the light....

And issue the dire prophetic warning to everyone who gladly chooses to remain in the dark night of their grotesque sins.

Kudos to the honest and astute Freeper who pointed out the other day that Ayatollah Khomeni probably had it right when he referred to the United States as "the Great Satan."

As astonishing as this may sound, I can see the day coming when Christians in America will beg radical Muslims to come here and save us from the radical, Satanic secularism that we have brought upon ourselves.

The Almighty God sure has a sense of humor, doesn't He?

The bishops need to excommunicate Cuomo and every so-called Catholic legislator who voted for this bill. Indeed, they should have maken it clear that they would do so BEFORE the vote was taken.

It's safe to go after Christians.

It's not safe to go after Moslems.

So it's brave to go after Christians, but bigoted to go after Moslems.

How would that stop Cuomo from doing what he is doing? Please advise. Yes, I agree he should be denied Communion. The self-excommunication has already occurred, clearly.

The first lawsuit will be served on July 26th in the afternoon. On the morning of July 26 the day after the law takes effect, two gays will go to Archbishop Dolan’s office demanding to be married. He will turn them down. In the after the papers will be served. Anyone who says”Oh but the law protects the Catholic Church and others...” is a fool.

I’m not saying you are wrong, but the law has a non-severability clause about the religious exemptions. So to my understanding if they are declared unconstitutional, the whole law is auto-wiped. Of course no doubt there are ways around that for our black robed masters, as you imply. It would be funny though if the quickest way to repeal the law was to actually get a judge to declare the religious exemptions unconstitutional.

Of course it will happen.

When is the church going to start really dealing with these Catholic politicians like Cuomo?

The Church’s stand in this area is admirable, but somehow it’s not filtering down the ranks, and until the Catholic church actually takes some proactive action, it seems that it will not be taken seriously by those liberal Catholic politicians.

The self-excommunication has already occurred, clearly.

And that's a cop out. That is NOT good enough. It is NOT working.

The RCC needs to let people know it's serious about this instead of letting it go and then giving them a Catholic funeral, like they did with Kennedy.

It IS past time to draw the line in the sand and make people decide. No more wussy Christianity.

The whole idea that you can teach without using public discipline is completely flawed, in my opinion. And there would be nothing wrong with publicly confirming that the actions of public Catholics have excommunicated themselves. Otherwise it just gives the impression that despite all the clear and loud teaching it must not be too big of a deal when you get right down to it.

Bishop skulls have always been a vital resource for the infernal department of transportation.

It is NOT working.

Not working what?

Latae sententiae (automatic excommunication incurred at the moment of committing the offence for which canon law imposes that penalty) certainly works. It renders the individual unable to receive the (benefits of) the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

I agree the Church should be more vocal about the issue and should refuse the act of Communion to these sinful and unrepentant individuals. But it still won't stop the politicians from enacting immoral legislation.
