The Bruins blanked Vancouver 4-0 Wednesday night for their first NHL title since 1972. They had lost their last five Stanley Cup finals appearances since then. (June 15)"
So says the brief write-up from the AP video presentation. Not only was history made, but also a major American city, Boston now has become the new title town with the Stanley Cup coming home at last.
Congrats to the NHL's Boston Bruins for winning at last, after nearly forty years, the Stanley Cup. Boston, now IMHO, the new "title town" sharing with the Boston Red Soxs, Celtics, and the New England Patriots, all having won championships over the course of the past decade.
As it was said, at the end of the deciding game 7, "get the duck boats ready!", at long last, the Bruins won! To the Vancouver Canucks, thank-you for a good season, may this lost be truly a teaching moment, and best wishes for the new season come in 109 days time. The one regret I do have is that I wish that my late paternal uncle Philip had lived to see what had happened last night. Boston, celebrate your newest champions!

And it's way past time to move the professional hockey team out of Vancouver....they don't deserve one.
....And in a special way after the rioting in Vancouver. The team, for having lost, acted A LOT MORE CLASSY then the fans themselves.
Congrats Boston you did what my beloved Blackhawks couldn’t do this year beat the hated Canucks!!! It’s good to see the cup in a world class sports town!
It almost makes living in assachusetts palatable!
And it is now going to be a race to see which dies out first....professional hockey fans....or WWII survivors.
At present, professional hockey fans have a slight lead.
Hockey in mid June ?
Finally, the Harry Sinden as GM era is over. I wasn’t sure I’d live long enough.
Basketball any time???
Riots erupt in Vancouver after Canucks loss
Yet all the most recent Stanley Cup winners as of late have been hailing from the USA. Goes to show that there is a neiche market for the NHL.
Boston Bruins' Zdeno Chara, of Slovakia, hoists the cup following the Bruins' 4-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of the NHL hockey Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
And
Boston Bruins' Tim Thomas holds the Conn Smythe MVP trophy after defeating the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 to win the NHL Stanley Cup hockey playoff in Vancouver, British Columbia June 15, 2011.
Best fan quote after game 6 ...
"We didn't lose to the British, and we're not going to lose to British Columbia."
Thank you Boston and Vancouver - for an exciting, 7 game series!
Only 109 more days until hockey season begins!
Yep another 109 days until the NHL begins again!
I was very happy to see Tim Thomas win the Conn Smythe trophy. He was very deserving. He only allowed 8 goals in 7 games against arguably the best offensive team in the league.
Great to see one of the original six NHL teams win.
The Original Six teams
Boston Bruins
Chicago Black Hawks
Detroit Red Wings
Montreal Canadiens
New York Rangers
Toronto Maple Leafs
The city of Vancouver should be ashamed. Plus the fans in the Rogers Center booing after the game should be ashamed.
They got beat by a harder working team.
It was a great series.
OMG, am I that old???
Mid June is the best time to play hockey!
If burning down the city after a loss is a criteria for moving a team, where will the Red Wings be sent?
