In defense of the BlogPimp, if the excerpt is too short to judge the quality of the ideas and of the writing (or if both fall short), I don't follow the link. If the writing justifies following the link, then he deserves the blog hits. Even with those who post the entire blog, I follow the link if their writing merits the blog hit, so he gets the blog hits that he earned.
