Three-time Indy 500 winner Bobby Unser survives in the wild when his snowmobile breaks down, only to face federal charges.

So the Fed Gov. spent close to $1 million of our money prosecuting B. Unser for a "crime" (knowingly snowmobiling in a designated "wilderness area") they they couldn't prove he committed. And the judge demanded that Bobby prove he didn't do it. Nice.

He learned a lesson most of us know -- the gov't not only isn't your friend, it's very often your gravest enemy.

As an aside, I recently found a few of old slides I took at the 1971 California 500, back when it was one of the "Big Three" Indy (USAC) races. One of them was a closeup of Bobby Unser sitting on his Eagle Offy before the race. Brought back some great memories.

Hey, selling a product is a noble thing. This is not aimed at you, ZET, but all too many people want something for nothing and act offended when confronted with "crass commercialism" -- even here on FreeRepublic. God bless commerce, which has built us a great and prosperous nation!

As for Unser's persecution by yet another Alphabet Agency with police powers... that is what's going to tear this great nation down. Damn them.

This has been ongoing for years. Trying to make an example out of Unser so the sheeple will back down. He got lost in a blizzard and almost froze to death, but the fedZilla wants the headlines. Even the USSC has now overruled the burden of proof being on accused, not the the accuser, great.

Need any more proof? Our Constitution DOES NOT stand.

“And the judge demanded that Bobby prove he didn’t do it. Nice.”

In the UK the court system functions under the “guilty until proven innocent.” Every day I see we are becoming more and more like them.

The bureaucrats known as the Mandarins 1000 years ago took down China which was a superpower back then. The bureaucrats are doing their best to take down America, too, today.

Hasn’t even his lawyer stood up, even once, and yelled this out loud ? Repeatedly ?

A lawyer should object to the very notion. Guilty until proven innocent. Over and over.

This can’t be. If this is so, and the objections were overruled, then there is nothing left .

What you see is the result of the Sovietization of the USA.

The Feds may have over reached here, but for years some of the Unsers have been operating like the rules don’t apply to them. (NM royalty don’ you know)

I thought this "guilty until proven innocent" is characteristic of Napoleonic law, not English law.

Why can't Unser say "It's your burden to prove that I did"?
