Ronald McDonald, the New Bin Laden

With Osama gone, liberals are focused on their new Enemy of the State–Ronald McDonald. Over 500 health professionals signed a letter telling McDonald’s to retire the non union card carrying clown who, according to liberals, exerts magic powers over children forcing them to eat unhealthful food while exonerating parents of all responsibility for their kids’ well being.

The campaign was organized by Corporate Accountability International, which also went after Coke and Pepsi over plastic bottles. The group wants McDonald’s to produce a report assessing it’s “health footprint”. With carbon footprints falling out of favor, watch for health footprints to be the newest excuse for beating up on corporate America.

Nanny staters are comparing Ronald McDonald to Joe Camel, the cartoon character, which, in the mind of liberals, had five year olds lighting up at recess.

I don’t recall Joe Camel doing quite as much for childrens’ health as Ronald McDonald does. The much maligned clown has become the symbol for an enormous network of charitable activities to benefit seriously ill children.

Ronald McDonald Houses provide a place for families to stay while their kids are undergoing treatment for serious illnesses. Imagine that your child is sick and the best care is far from home. Hotel bills could wipe you out faster than the medical bills if there were no Ronald McDonald Houses.

"Our Ronald McDonald House program provides a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. Our Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest."

Public Enemy Number One also raises funds for Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, a safe haven for families going through the hell of watching their children go through difficult medical treatments.

Ronald’s Care Mobiles, which cost about a half million dollars apiece, courtesy of the private sector, provide urgently needed medical services world wide. These amazing machines are 40 feet long and 8 feet wide an can offer an incredible array of services where they are most needed.

The Evil Clown’s accomplishments include 290 local Chapters in 52 countries and regions:

306 Ronald McDonald Houses 167 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms 43 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles Grants to non-profit organizations that also focus on the needs of children Scholarships to students across the United States

And the taxpayers are not stuck with the tab. In contrast, Michelle Obama’s track record of helping sick people is less than stellar. Liberals are the stingiest people in a generous nation. Ronald McDonald’s charities are a shining example of what the American private sector can do.

If we are going to get rid of a food chain mascot, then I vote for getting rid of the BURGER KING.

He’s just creepy.

there are McDonalds resturants inside of some hospitals. Next time I see a five year old drive up to the drive through and order a kids meal with a toy I will give him a piece of my mind.

I’m surprised they haven’t considered banning Fast Food within 1,000 feet of a school like they were drugs. BTW, our high school is in our city square. That should kill it off.

Leftists want to regulate the fat and sugar contents to our stomachs while encouraging multiple pipelines of immoral sewage to flow deep into our souls.

Me too. I ate what was served me at the dinner table. A grilled steak was our treat once in a while not fast food.

Good points about Ronald McDonald houses and charities.

The liberals are upset about de-funding Planned Parenthood, because they claim Planned Parenthood does pap smears and breast cancer screenings and other positive health programs, not just abortions.

Well, McDonald’s can say that Ronald McDonald does a lot of great things for children’s health, and separate that out from the dispute about Happy Meals. Just as liberals want to separate the abortion debate from Planned Parenthood, McDonald’s should be able to separate out Ronald McDonald from the debate about Happy Meals.
