Red State ^ | May 18, 2011 | Leon H. Wolf

I am not really sure what is wrong with Mitch Daniels. Two years ago, you would not have found a bigger Mitch Daniels booster in the United States than yours truly. He had bucked national trends to win an landslide re-election and was doing all the right things to demonstrate administrative competence, which is something our party badly needed to demonstrate after the last two years of the Bush administration. Then he started saying crap like this, courtesy of Jenn Rubin...

Can’t wait to hear from the pro Daniels FREEPERS on this one — since they’ve been trying so hard to convince us Daniels really is a great conservative — and they pretend not to know why we doubt them.

Hard to argue with this video.

Sorry, we disagree with Democrats because they are WRONG! As is our right to do.

He who will not stand for what he believes, will fall for anything.

I’m from Indiana. Daniels made a good Governor but I certainly don’t want him as President. He’s not a conservative.

As of today, there are only three (potential) candidates worth paying attention to: Palin, Bachmann, Cain. ALL of the others are non-starters and should be ignored and or destroyed by the true right.

Hmm ~ short, bald and boring.

Did you realize that we have electronic wizardry already available for TV or internet broadcast that can turn anyone, a Daniels, a Bachmann, a Jesse Jackson into a young, vibrant, tall, well haired, exciting HANDSOME MAN.

You'd need to be going to live speeches to "meet the candidate" to know any difference!

In a "nekkid debate" you'd even be able to make all of the candidates well-muscled and well-hung if that would make any difference.

If that's the writer's only real complaint, all I can suggest is they GET OUT OF THE 20th Century. The future is now.

Haley Barbour and the Preibus chorus ~ that's who is behind Daniels.

It's the old Midwest/Deepsouf' coalition at work.

So, in 2009, right after we were CRUSHED in the 2008 election, Mitch Daniels suggests that we figure out how to campaign on issues that Unite Us.

Hmm, sounds pretty much like Politics 101 ~ after a big los.

In 2010, of course, we turned it around by campaigning on issues that Unite Us like NO OBAMAKKARE! NO TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICITS! NO NANCY PELOSI!

Guess that was a winning program eh!

and they are going to win in a landslide

I highly doubt that, but they'd definitely inject some energy into the campaign.

Like it or not... fair or unfair... short guys very rarely win Presidential elections.

BTW... Bush is 5'11" and still nearly a head taller than the hobbit-like, balding, moderate, bland Daniels.

All well and good... until the handshake with the 6’1” Obama. All the tech in the world won’t overcome that.

Note that Daniels is speaking at a Ripon Society event. The Ripon Society formed in 1962, in Cambridge MA, as a response against the Goldwater wing of the GOP and before Reagan's election had published editorials against "Creeping Reaganism."

The Ripon Society calls itself "a Republican public policy advocacy organization" which declares its mission as "moderate, progressive policy formation."

Mitch Daniels has been a favorite speaker at their forums and lectures.

Just the man to take the fight to Obama, or just a 2008 replay engineered by the Liberal elite?

Did anyone even listen to the video? He laid out a very good case for free market principles and how he has delivered in Indiana. He has shown as governor his ability to take potential wedge issues and get them passed.

In many ways he understands how the media deals with Republicans. They throw barb after barb and then attack the response. Mitch has shown an ability to push through a conservative agenda without giving the democrats credibility by publicly disagreeing with them. He just keeps doing his thing, and this video clearly lays out conservative agenda. Talk softly and carry a big stick, and his record has shown that is exactly what he does.
