Americans are dangerously inter-dependent upon cell phone towers and Internet servers throughout the nation. Whether intentional or by natural disaster, ALL of these can be instantly shut down during emergencies.
The CB Patriot Project is organizing around a simple technology and making it the back-bone of an emergency plan. By linking patriotic Americans across their homes, cities, states & country, we will be prepared for national or regional emergencies that could otherwise shut down our ability to communicate with one another.
After the financial meltdown of 2007 and the 2008 elections, millions of Americans organically organized and united with one another in a way that might never have happened without the Internet. If you remember how empowering it was to be among the millions who rallied together nationwide, you KNOW that the most important asset we have is...(continued)

BTW, this is a completely volunteer plan. Ham operators are encouraged to get involved! They are an integral part of the overall project.
Ping. I wondered if CB’s were still around...I remember them being the “must have” item 30 years ago.:-)
ANyone know what the best cb radio is? I have been looking to install one in my truck.
Thanks for posting this.
This is no criticism. I plan to get a CB as soon as I can, and encourage others to do likewise; but is there a way to have a frank discussion about the purpose of this communications network and why people (specifically conservatives) might want to be involved in it?
Thank you.

Careful about that - may cause diminished eyesight. :)
My Dad was a big CB fan when we were kids. He used to have a big metal potato chip can that he would hold behind his big microphone, so when he howled into it it produced a crude be remarkably effective reverb. He tested it by having my Grandfather tune his CB radio in, and listen while my old man yowled at the top of his lungs....
My brother and I got recruited to help mix concrete to install the base of Dad’s antenna tower, and all three of us were up on top of that thing at one time or another adjusting or installing something....
I recently found one of his old “Q” cards...it brought back a lot of memories....”The Voice of the Eagle” in Northeast Ohio....KMK-4071
That’s the 64 million dollar question. When Obama started pushing for an “emergency kill switch” for the Internet, giving himself authority to literally -shut down- the Internet in the event of an undefined “emergency”, it begs the question of what the hell kind of “emergency” would it be beneficial to take away the ability for Americans whom he is sworn to represent - to communicate one with another?
This was after what we saw with the organic moblization that led to the tea parties. He tried to do it with the then Democrat congress through legislation and then (and now) through the unelected O-FCC.
You have to wonder if the Lefties have considered that the next President (who will have the ability to send propaganda out) will be Sarah Palin.
CB is OK for local short-range communications (1 mile or so), but there is no reason anyone with a little drive can’t get through the technician-class ham license. Morse code is no longer a requirement; the questions are widely available on the internet.
Unfortunately I have personal experience with this after the tornados came through last week. The whole city where I live had no power (and no landline in my house) and of course cell towers were damaged so we couldn’t communicate with anyone. We tried for hours to talk to relatives and couldn’t. It’s very frustrating and isolating. So yes it can and probably will happen to someone, sometime in the future (by natural disaster) & possibly ALL of us if Obummer gets his way.
“..If this kind of emergency arises, two things are more important than the ability to communicate: 1) WHO you communicate with; and, 2) WHAT you plan to communicate. It seems to me that if you don’t have concrete answers to these two questions already, the ability to communicate may be of little use.” - Penance
That’s exactly why we are -organizing- and planning now. There will be area/group captains and everyone should know who that is within their area.
We plan to conduct test runs when we have enough participants, which is why it is important to get the word out before the fact. Ham radio operators are working right now for the national aspect of this as well. We have them from Maine to California and in between.
Sounds good! Glad to hear it.
Sorry to belabor things. The confusion was mine. I just signed up.
