The United States has three enemies.
1. Islamofascist terrorists.
2. Our own radical left-wingers.
3. The Mainstream Media.
And, of these, the Mainstream Media is the most dangerous. For, without the aid of the MSM, the other two enemies would've been defeated years ago.
You are focusing on the problem just from within the U.S., when this is a problem of the very connected, worldwide left. Worldwide leftist politics and worldwide political correctness must be ended, successfully, finally, and asap. Happy Mother’s Day, to all mom’s, to all mom’s to be, and to

The MSM is the most dangerous because it enables acceptance of the results of vote fraud. The Barney Franks, the Al Frankens, the Harry Reids, the Barbara Boxers, the most extreme liberals, represent a minority that has seized power via vote fraud. The MSM makes it look like there's enough of them in "mainstream America" to make it so. When libs "win" via the grind of manufactured "get out" drives and ginned and harvested and fraudulent votes, the majority has been preconditioned to accept it via the MSM. That's how a minority seizes power over the majority. The MSM plays a big part.
That most Americans dislike liberals is evident because Liberals have to cheat. They have to cheat because they are the minority.
Judging by consumer comments on MSM news sites like Yahoo, LA Times, ABC, etc., show minimum of 50 percent, often much more like 70 or 80, feel a high degree of a) contempt for Obama; b) contempt for liberals; and c) contempt for a biased news media.
When a voice of conservatism that says "You want less government, you want that monkey off your back? Vote for us," the legitimate majority of American voters would be overwhelmingly refreshed and revitalized. That's what they're begging for.
