Who is the next culprit in the global warming witch hunt? Your refrigerator.
A study conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a federal agency with a billion-dollar budget and an eye for global warming propaganda, concluded that ice makers increase rated energy consumption on refrigerators by 12 to 20 percent. Time, via Fox News, reported:
Climate modelers have long known that households are far bigger contributors to global warming than most laypeople realize. For all the blame tailpipe emissions take for escalating temperatures, homes and office buildings are actually the single largest contributor to greenhouse gasses. One key reason is the 100-plus million refrigerators in America's 111 million households. According to the Department of Energy, the standard fridge sucks up about 8% of the electricity used by all homes—a pretty big share given the dozens of big and small appliances and electronics that are also drawing juice. Due to this "environmental revelation", the Deparment of Energy - which helped fund the NIST's research - plans to add 84 kilowatt hours to the efficiency rating of every refrigerator with an icemaker. Such regulation will undoubtedly inflate prices and place unecessary strain on manufacturers.
So be a good citizen and go buy an ice tray. Remember, the planet is at stake.

We need to elect a Congress that will reassert the Constitution. The executive branch is making law, and it was never granted that power in the founding documents.
If regulation of fridges is needed, and it isn’t, the elected representatives are given ALL legislative power.
It was 100 degrees here yesterday. Do NOT think about messing with my fridge or ice maker.
I think if they can regulate our refrigerators in the name of some twisted eco-religion, we should be able to regulate cars so that they only drive to church on Sundays.
I do hope some attentive congresscritters are scanning the DOE budget at this moment, looking to cut personnel and operations by 3/4.
More HOT AIR is produced in DC than from all the icemakers of fridges in the USA....shut DC down FIRST! And, take their fridges (and air conditioning away)...too much energy used. In fact, it used to be that Congress did NOT meet year round for that VERY reason, if memory serves me right.
Buy your mandated refrigerator at The Energy Dept. in your mandated GM Hybrid fueled with mandated Ethanol & GE batteries then take it to The Dept. of Agriculture to buy your mandated monthly allotment of healthy food.
Well I guess it is off to Canada when I need a new refrigerator.
No problem. Soylent Green needs no refrigeration! So when only Soylent Green is the Legal Human Food (until you reach the age of Uselessness), you won’t need a refrigerator.
The main cause of global warming is all of the hot air coming from these global warming fanatics!
