What am I missing? This is multiculturalism. By definition, multiculturalism has nothing to do with assimilation.

But it's worse than that. Multiculturalism is the exact opposite of assimilation. If you believe multiculturalism, you must denounce assimilation.
Multiculturalism is, in a way, like Marxism. Both are very attractive to the weepy-eyed left. Both will eventually cause great destruction.
As for evidence of this, one has to look no further than the history of Yugoslavia.
