Sarah Palin's record as governor of Alaska has largely gone unchallenged by conservatives, despite the fact that one of her signature legacies was imposing an oil profits tax -- a distinctly liberal idea.
Now, Republicans in the state Legislature and Palin's own Republican replacement, Gov. Sean Parnell, have scored a victory in an attempt to reverse her tax hike.
Democrats, though, stood strong with Palin in opposing any rollback on the tax hike.

In before the SarahBorg.
If the state is running a significant surplus, I don’t see this as a bad idea or a ding on Sarah’s record. The state she ran has weathered the recession better than most others. There’s no reason to maintain a tax if the state doesn’t need the revenue. Most states would just jack up spending to match.
It doesn’t mean a pinch of goose $hit to me if Palin runs for POTUS I will still vote for her.
"While many other states are confronting big budget deficits because of the troubled economy, Alaska officials are in the enviable position of exploring new ways to spend the state's multibillion-dollar budget surplus. Some of that new cash will end up in the wallets of Alaska's residents.
Palin's administration last week gained legislative approval for a special $1,200 payment to every Alaskan to help cope with gas prices, which are among the highest in the country.
That check will come on top of the annual dividend of about $2,000 that each resident could receive this year from an oil-wealth savings account."

Gov Palin's plan rebated money back to Alaskan Citizens and balanced a budget. When was the last time a Liberal balanced anything and returned money to the taxpayer?
Some here might disagree with Gov Palin, but to term her bill "Liberal" is nothing but absurd.
EVERY ALASKAN GOT A CHECK FROM THAT REVENUE... IT IS THEIR OIL AFTERALL.
LLS
About 25 years ago a small town near me passed a temporary 1% city sales tax to pay for a city swimming pool.
The pool was paid off in 7 years.
18 years later the temporary tax is still being collected.
I believe the Alaska Senate has already said there should be no change.
Christian Heinze
who attacks Governor Palin's record and credibility
by misstating all the facts
(eg. Republicans scuttle Palin's oil tax increase)
endorses * Mitt Romney.
Christian Heinz works with
Benedict Rove: Confront birthers now (Christian Heinze/GOP 12)
to attack American patriots demanding Obama's birth certificate
(because THEY know Romney is not eligible for the same reason).
And get this:
Christian Heinz on Obama's win
(after RomneyBOTS attacked Gov. Palin and her children)
"In reality, this could actually be better for Romney than McCain-Romney 2008. If he succeeded as czar under a Democratic President, he'd look bi-partisan to the country, and eminently qualified to conservatives, who'd have to acknowledge his success in a Democratic environment.".
Yeah... They never seem to let facts get in the way of a sensational story.
...And look at the rest of the Palin news. looks like the Daily Kos to me.

Yes. Someone (Palin) actually looking out for the ‘real people’.
That check will come on top of the annual dividend of about $2,000 that each resident could receive this year from an oil-wealth savings account."
Alaska, the largest state has about 700,000 residents, and for the past 50 years, has paid its folks tribute every year.
Every one of these rugged, self reliant folks, gets a slurp at the teat of the oil revenue producers.
It's OK with me, it's their state and direct revenue distribution is probably a better way to spend gummint money than building roads that no one would use.
Alaska, because of its rugged terrain and climate has a small population, and its massive oil reserves allow this kind of popular socialism.
This model wouldn't work in very many areas.
I love Sarah, but I know this post will get flamed by a couple of Alaskan residents, but if its not wealth redistribution, what is it?
Me too,, GOP, trying to cast Sarah as a crazed tax raiser. That’s rich coming from them,,,,
im going to vote for Sarah because I feel sure she loves America, and cares about the regular family. Unlike the GOP.
If the oil companies think that the Alaskan people charge too much, they can leave. There is no inalienable right for the oil companies to take what is not theirs.
Not sure why anyone posts items from “thehill.com”.
Most of the pieces I’ve seen are fluff, and generally of a questionable slant.
Romney isn’t a natural born citizen?
