Exactly... if a politician has to fall on his sword to keep from going against his own conscience, so be it.
THAT would be the best days work (for some… the ONLY days work) these guys ever do.
AND, I would like to add that it is time to do away with the idea of 2 four-year terms for the US President.
Once these guys get into the WH, they ‘rope-a-dope’ and basically hold the country hostage… while they position themselves for their next term. If the last two Democrats in the WH are not proof of this, I’ll buy you a new Cadillac!!!

You’ve got that right. For most (all?) politicians, what they consider to be good for their careers is more important than what’s good for the country. Make it clear that this job is not a career, it’s one shot public service. The current state of affairs gives us a permanent election campaign, and the candidate who wins is too often the one who promises to give the electorate the most freebies.
