Fashback: Massachusetts Governor Signs Film/TV Tax Incentive Bill Into Law [Mitt Romney}
Right Speak ^ | 3/29/2011 | Right Wingnut

Posted on 03/30/2011 10:13:24 AM PDT by Right Wingnut 2

I came across this article, and wanted to share the good news. If Mitt Romney ever decides to proceed with Mitt's Massachusetts, the producer stands to receive a generous tax credit - provided it's filmed in Massachusetts.

On Wednesday, November 23rd, Governor Mitt Romney signed the tax incentive bill that the Boston AFTRA/SAG office, along with numerous other industry members, have been working to enact in Massachusetts. The new law puts the Bay State in the spotlight as a competitive venue for motion picture and commercial production, and not surprisingly is already garnering interest from motion picture studios that would not otherwise have come to the Commonwealth. Upon hearing the news, Mary Ann Hughes, Vice President, Film Production Planning, Walt Disney Company commented "This law makes Massachusetts very competitive in attracting film and TV production. We look forward to doing business in Massachusetts."

The new law will take effect in 90 days but will be retroactive to January 1, 2006. Its principal elements include a 20% tax credit on all Massachusetts source payroll, a 25% tax credit on qualified production expense in Massachusetts, and a sales tax credit for producers who spend a minimum aggregate of $250,000 per year in the commonwealth. The law is in place through the year 2013.

Please take your Romney FAUX News elsewhere.

Backstabbing cowardly leper Mitt Romney:
"Do your duty for me. Attack her.
You will embrace these attacks on Gov. Palin and her defenseless children
as when you threw elections 2008 and 2010
to the DNC ….. for ME. FOR ME.
Create, then support, the vicious anti-GOP attacks from our northern lands,
our bought media, and our plants within the Obama team.
I will gain GOP favor by condemning the very same attacks and
ordering them opposed from our lands in the south.
Whichever way the tide runs, I will arise and only I will be left standing.”

This post by Right Wingnut (RomneyBOT) given the linked post below was apparently made
in regard to Gov. Palin (given the news of the day, see below)

Governor Palin: Setting the Record Straight on State’s Film Production Tax Credit
Goodness, cleaning up the sloppiness of reporters could be a full time job.
In response to The Daily Caller's online inquiry,
I gave them a statement that the writer buried on his story’s second page
(which most people won’t even notice – I didn’t even notice it)
after he spent the first page completely spinning a situation
to give the impression that Alaska’s film production tax credit legislation
was somehow solely my idea hatched up to benefit the Palins years
before I was ever involved in a documentary series on TLC/Discovery Channel.
Here’s setting the record straight:

As Governor, I signed into law a popular bipartisan bill that was
crafted and passed by others and has resulted in numerous
Alaska-based productions that are airing today.
The only alternative to signing the legislature’s work product would
have been for me to veto their legislation, which would have been useless.
Besides all that, their legislation worked.

There has been more film productions here than ever before,
and the economic benefit of filming here exceeds the tax credit.

One final thought: having to set the record straight on my Facebook
page yet again is further proof that the media
can’t be trusted even to print a statement in a manner that people can read.
- Sarah Palin

Today both Romeny and Palin get smacked with articles about tax subsidies for the film industry. What is with these state and local governments (Democrats and GOP) that make them roll over for the TV/Film industry time and time again when all studies indicate it's an economic dog...

Maybe Romeny and Palin should be honest and say the real purpose of the program is to promote the state...

Asking Diogenes to do research before posting is a fool’s errand.

But don’t worry — anybody with a brain could tell that you were defending Sarah Palin by showing that a rival did the same thing. Not that she needed to be defended on this point — the argument about her “getting benefit” is an absurd one.

And as for whether tax breaks to favored industries is in opposition to small-government conservatism, I tend to agree with that argument in principle (taxes should be used evenly and broadly to fund government, not to pick winners and losers), using tax breaks specifically to lower the costs of business for entire industries isn’t really “picking winners and losers”. Palin’s explanation was a fine one on this point.

Nit: Palin signed her bill in 2008, which was only 2 years separated from the bill you mentioned; that is important only to note that this bill being discussed happened a long time ago, before Palin could ever have expected to be popular enough to do a TV show.

CharlesWayneCT, sad that your defenses for Mitt Romney continue
by your disingenuous attacks against FReepers.

You certainly come off as a RomneyBOT,
and people have posted, at your site, exactly that.

For example
"Now I know you secretly have a very strong affection and admiration for Romney... ".

You are so hilarious. You just quoted a Strong Romney Supporter's sarcastic comment on another blog, as some sort of "evidence" that a strong Palin Supporter is actually a Romneybot.

Maybe you are a closet Romney supporter, and you keep posting and posting your anti-Romney posts in order to drum up sympathy support for him. That would explain why, in another thread, you insisted to me that you really liked Romney. I thought it was a strange comment to make, but now I wonder.

by your disingenuous attacks against FReepers

You are the one who just called a strong Palin supporter a Romneybot, and then quoted a Romney supporter from another web site to further your false attack.

But diogenesis brings all sorts of people to your thread, did you see how many people he pinged in? Of course, they seem to have long since stopped paying any attention, but you can always hope.

That’s one ping list I’m glad I’m not on.

I don't really care what the guy thinks personally, but when he pings Jim Robinson, it's obvious that he's trying to get me booted.

Why he would do that is beyond me. Maybe he hates Palin.

and attack FReepers, would not you two be happier at DU?

BTW, as proof that CharlesWayneCT is NOTHING but a
RomneyBOT Romney apologist consider this one of his recent lying posts.

CharlesWayneCT: "We were all alive and reading the news the day the Supreme Court of Massachusetts legalized gay marriage."

However, despite the RomneyBOT lie, that is not what happened.

"1) The Massachusetts Constitution states: "The power of suspending the laws, or (suspending) the execution of the laws, ought never to be exercised but by the legislature..."
and 2) to violate said Constitution (typical carpetbagger mentality) Willard Romney then acted "on his own" in illegal legislative authority,
issuing "a directive to the Justices of the Peace that they must perform same-sex marriages when requested or 'face personal liability' or be fired."

Go back to Milt - he is your past, present, and future.
