Poundstone became popular because she had the right credentials: she was a single, left/liberal woman which tends to describe practically every female comedian. And she is a lesbian. In fact, Poundstone writes a regular column for The Nation or Mother Jones I forget which one. That’s pretty far left. I’ve watched some of her shows in the eighties or nineties trying to figure out why she was supposed to be funny. One thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of the improvisational-type comedians are just not very funny. Poundstone is one of those.
I almost never laughed at Poundstone’s “comedy” even before I knew what a leftist freak she was. Back in the 90’s Rosie O’Donnell had an HBO special that actually WAS funny. maybe because it wasn’t overtly political. She really went after Woody Allen and O.J. I admit I laughed. Now, you couldn’t PAY me to watch either of these two. I guarantee it’s all Palin/Bush “jokes”. And uber-liberal Will Farrell? NOT funny in movies OR real life. And he’s a bad man. He consistently gets the most votes for being an asshole to his fans by Autograph magazine. O’Donnell says she doesn’t sign autographs, either.
