President Obama Danced At Motown Bash, But No Dancing In The Streets of Detroit

Take a one minute tour of today's Detroit from the safety of your home.

Its not hard to believe that Michigan deserves to sing the blues because it is such a Blue State. Democrat Governors, Congressman, Senators, Mayors, Councilmen, and the UAW have been ignoring the problems since the 1960's.

At least Dearbornistan has some semblance of law (quasi Sharia) and order, but like African-Americans who have carved out their own and separate culture, so are Moslems desiring to supercede American culture with their own, thus fracturing a broken state even more.

Detroit Poverty 40%
United States Violent Crime 430 Per 100,000 Population
Detroit Violent Crime Rate 2000 Per 100,000 Population

I heard he danced like a white tuba player in the high school band.

Meanwhile, 70 miles to the west of Detroit we don’t lock our doors.

Detroit, civilization in reverse gear.

There is no rule that society must advance. It can retreat.

History provides many examples. The US is not immune.

I got a kick out of something this past week. In Sky magazine, which I was flipping through while flying on Delta, they had a section about 30 pages long about Detroit. Clearly the magazine is trying to do its part to revitalize the city. All the articles were positive, pro-Detroit pieces about how vibrant the city is.

The funny thing was that there were two pictures in particular that stood out to me. In one, they were showcasing the skyline with the GM building in view. In the forefront, there was a waterfront park area with this huge parking lot. There was NOBODY in the park, and very very few cars in the parking lot. Now, it might have been a weekend, but if it was, you’d expect the park to have some visitors. If it was a weekday, you’d expect the parking lot to be full.

The other picture was of a rather large marina.

Not. One. Boat.

Hint: It’s winter in Detroit. Ever been to Detroit in the winter? It’s frickin’ cold.

I don't doubt your observation. I saw much the same in the ‘70s and I am told it continued.

Should anyone not understand where democrat party/labor union government would take the US, I suggest they take a holiday in Detroit to find out.

I was born and raised there. I call it “Stalingrad West.”

Wall Street and commodities have recovered.

Recovery for Wall Street but not Main Street!

Remember that old Dem slogan? We can use it in 2012.

Meanwhile, 25 miles northwest of Detroit, we don’t lock our doors either.
