“The flack is always thickest when you’re over the target.”

This says it best.

Style or substance? Sometimes Beck has turned me off with the way he’s presented things, but it’s style, not substance. He’s right on many things before anyone else, and he doesn’t ask any more that you check the same sources as he does. Beck’s substance, that he educates and informs, accounts for his high ratings, I think.

If he’s ‘disturbing’ it might be that sometimes the truth is disturbing to comfortable people who’d rather ignore bad news until it can’t be ignored anymore.

“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” - Eric Arthur Blair (George Orwell)

Exactly. Well said.

Beck scares me sometimes, but it is the truth that he is presenting, and we have to face up to the truth even when it is frightening.
