Similar discussions took place here when Toon beat impeachment, and some of us were saying that it’ll only get worse with the next one, while others defended the current system as they are doing above and below. It hasn’t gotten worse with this next one?
Don’t you think that the new democracies of Europe such as Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and others looked at our, to you, perfect Constitution when they composed theirs in the past 20 years, and saw the mess we are in?
Whenever I read European newspapers, one theme in published opinions about America jumps out: serious reform is impossible in the United States, say all the sages across the Continent. Tell me that they are all “stupid”.

No. The perfect system is only as good as the state of its culture. There will be no shortage of Obamas as long as our people are fools.
Our system of government was specifically designed to prevent narrow interest groups from accumulating oppressive power. The best system in the world can’t prevent this if people are seduced into surrendering their rights and freedoms in return for politician’s promises of goodies, special privileges, and revenge for past injustices.
I'd be in favor of an IQ or common sense check as a condition of voting (!), but don't want a "no-confidence" check on Presidential power. Polls are good enough.
