If we did, they would be actually protecting our citizens, they would be closer to home for leaves and the money they spend in off duty time would help our economy.
Our whole foreign military base structure needs to be examined. Places like Japan, Germany, Korea and Okinawa should be on the table. It’s time for those countries to start taking ownership for their own defense. Hell, Germany has an economy that is far outpacing ours, but they spend very little on Defense and build Submarines for foreign sale.
There are nearly 35,000 US troops stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso right now, but NOT A SINGLE ONE IS GUARDING OUR BORDER. And there are another 7,000 or so at Fort Huachuca in Arizona, about 15 miles from the border, and they are not doing any guarding or defending, either.
