There is actually a group now that is helping union members get refunds of the union dues they pay that have not gone directly toward their representation with the employer: unionrefund.org

It seeks to enforce the decision handed down in the Communication Workers of America vs. Beck case in which the member won the right to not be forced to contribute unwillingly to these political games. If more and more union members would start hitting the unions for their refunds, they would have a huge impact quickly. UnionRefund.org actually does the calculations and mails the letter of demand to the union for you - FREE of charge.

Not many people have used it - according to the site - do you know how long it’s been in existence? It doesn’t go into much detail on the site.
