Now, let me start off by saying it’s blatantly obvious this is a complete PR stunt and these people are looking for attention, and that’s exactly what I’m giving them- so it worked. However, there’s a lot better ways to try and get people on your side besides making a “Free Ronald” McDonald campaign at the hands of “terrorists” who are about to behead him if people do not do what they are aiming for in the video.
The group is called the Food Liberation Army and they are essentially food campaigners and environmentalists. They released this video Feb. 2 showing Ronald captured and wrote this on their website, FreeRonald.org:

We are the Food Liberation Army, and we hope that this extreme action will take us towards a better and safer food future.
Two days ago we kidnapped Ronald McDonald from a McDonald’s Restaurant. If you do not answer all the questions we will execute Ronald on Friday February 11, 2011 at 6:30PM EET.
We love burgers, fries and McDonald’s, but we can no longer watch silent when the food we love is being destroyed and brought to shame because of greed and indifference. Because of your short-sightedness your burgers have become nearly inedible.

I believe in corporate ethics and responsibility and all that to a point. However, their dressing up mimicking the barbaric Islamic terrorists who behead people ruins it for me. It completely cancels out any positive message they are trying to convey, in my opinion. These people are nuts, and should thank God every day (if they believe) that they live in a country where they have the right to do the inane things they are doing.
These people are totally crazy. This is supposed to help their image how?
As an old man who fondly recalls the greasy spoon hamburgers of a bygone age, I could understand a protest against the cardboard and mayo abominations of fast food. Yearning for the yesteryear of McD, not so much.
