Did the Founders put a Printing Press kill switch in the First Amendment? I must have missed that.

I sure hope this doesnt even come up for a vote in the House. It doesn't have to come up in the House, Obama's been bypassing the legislative process by ordering various government agencies to act, or by executive fiat.
In this scenario, the FCC could simply "order" the major telecom's to turn over the keys, or Obama could do it by EO.
Scary huh? Just what a marxist/socialist/totalitarian like Obama wants - complete control. Think he's not watching what's going on in Egypt and thinking "hey, this is a GREAT WAY to stifle dissention here in the U.S.!"

If Bush thought this up, the streets would look like Cairo does today.

Congress can never give this power to the president. It is not theirs to give.It is unconstitutional , AND violates the 1st amendment of the Constitution.
If this is done, it will mean political warfare. If Obama wants this to be the first shot fired, let it be so.
HIs a$$ is grass. He will have created his own demise and the downfall of his regime.
It is also intenedd to be a distraction from the task at hand: destroy DEATH CARE!! BRING IT!

Thanks for the ping. I”ve been trying to avoid reading about this because I’m already not in a good mood but your POV cheers me up!
I hope the Rs in the House are finding their spines, guts and whatever else is needed to FIGHT BACK!
Also fight back on fags in the military and any other garbage is being shoved at us, how ever they can stall, bollux up or otherwise throw a monkey wrench in the works. Defund!!!

Good move. I've been in it since 1976. Extra Class. I was into TCP/IP over packet radio in 1985. The code development and hardware interfacing provided good, real world skills that still support my professional career today.

My dial up modems are still available AND my Linux boxes still have UUCP aboard. That was how I did e-mail prior to 1985. Augmented with the UUMAP project, you could send e-mail using an intelligently created source routing (speed/cost). Of course, we have WiFi today. Add OLSR and you can network your neighborhood with ease.

Take advantage of the free online tests via the web. You can study and drill yourself using those tests until you are confident that you can easily pass the test. I went cover to cover on the Extra Class manual in about a week. I could pass any example served up on the web. The actual 50 question test took under 20 minutes when practiced to that level.

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs (Jan. 28, 2011): "
We believe in the basket of individual freedoms includes the freedom to access the Internet and the freedom to use social networking sites. I don't want to speak about the specific company because I need a little bit more information. Regardless of any situation, we believe that the people of Egypt have a right to freedom of expression and freedom of speech, and that includes the use of the Internet."

An Internet Kill Switch is an Economy Freedom Kill Switch. Thanks for the correction. You're right, of course.

If the US does get a internet kill switch...we will have nothing else to do but riot. The internet keeps us somewhat calm and occupied. Could you imagine what would happen if they just cut it off...people would freak out, all at one time and in all different directions. It would be crazy and I wouldnt want to be the one that has to tell everyone that your internet has been taken away. I think the World of Warcraft players would be freaked out the most
