Signatures Being Collected to Officially Recall Dupnik

On January 8, 2011, in Tucson, Arizona, a madman named Jared Loughner murdered 6 people, shot a Congresswoman in the head, and injured another 14. He was tackled and subdued by heroes who had been in the middle of the horror. In the hours after the rampage, little was known about Loughner. It was in this time that America was introduced to Clarence Dupnik, the Pima County Sheriff.

In the absence of facts, Dupnik quickly and loudly began to blame the right and talk radio for the tragedy in Tucson. As facts slowly came in, it was learned that Loughner was most likely apolitical; if he was "political" at all, Loughner was most certainly liberal. Yet Dupnik did not back away. In fact, he continued his assault on honesty, making the rounds on MSNBC and CNN...

But most important, ABC is now reporting that Dupnik is subject to recall. Further, a group called Americans Against Immigration Amnesty has now officially begun to collect the 100,000 signatures needed to strip Dupnik of his office. AAIA cited Dupnik's "irresponsible" comments and "shameless political grandstanding" as the reasons for their actions.

Soon after, Dupnik stated that Tucson has become the "tombstone of the United States," and that he "doesn't know how anybody could not be angry at the way government has performed."

Recall Sheriff Dupnik

There is also a Facebook page that calls for the recall of Dupnik. It currently has over 800 members.

The perfect response.

He was publicly insulting his state and the majority of its citizens and can not be relied on to treat the citizens there with respect.

Furthermore, although perhaps there should be an investigation, there is considerable second-hand evidence that Dupnik should have acted in ways that would have prevented this tragedy.

In the first place, the perp was at least twice involved with drug charges, but they were simply dismissed. If they had stayed on his record, he would not have been cleared by the FBI to buy a gun.

In the second place, he was dismissed by his local college, which reported to the Sheriff that he was a danger to the other students. Again, the sheriff did nothing.

In the third place, there were numerous complaints that he was making death threats against people. Again, nothing was done, either to arrest him or to demand a psychiatric evaluation.

The sheriff himself said, according to one report, that it would not be wise to proceed with these complaints, because the perp’s mother was an influential county official.

Even on the morning of the killings, he went through a stop sign and was pulled over by a park officer. When the officer learned who he was, he was simply released. Could it be that everyone in law enforcement had been warned not to make trouble because of his mother’s influence?

An investigation is called for. But I think there is enough here to afford additional grounds for recall. Dupnik failed to perform his job because of political influence.

This is the right thing to do, but....

To those obtaining the signitures - watch out for plants from the left to somehow forge the name of non-existent citizens or do something so that the whole list is thrown out.

They’re pretty good at voter fraud so something like this is probably a piece of cake for them.

Sheriff Dupnik failed to protect the community.

And is still failing the community with his aiding the perps defense team.

This is interesting. Some were talking of impeaching him on a thread days ago and I mentioned this ‘very thing’ and it was ignored as if it were a dumb thought.

It isn’t an easy thing to accomplish though, depending on the political makeup of the citizens there.

Sheriff Dumbnik. This guy is the poster child for the stupid dumbcluck that is elected to a job that he or she is incapable of doing alone. The fact that he continued in his post FOR SO MANY YEARS is a sad reflection on the people of Tuscon.

I’m pinging the poster of the thread because I just happened to pop in and didn’t read all up on it.

It's pretty obvious he's pitching for Holder's soon-to-be-vacated-due-to-indictment spot.

Tucson is, unfortunately a Democrat stronghold. This Dipstick will just become more of a local liberal folk hero. His chance to “move up” in his little world. Pathetic and ignorant.

Given Dupnik's extreme anti-conservative bigotry, you have to wonder it he has manufactured evidence or encouraged those under his command to perjure themselves in order to put conservatives in jail, "for the good of the community."

If a known conservative calls Dupnik's office with a reasonable request, what can he expect in response? A loud click followed by a dial tone?

Can Dupnik really be both smart enough to be sheriff and dumb enough to behave as he has behaved?

If this does not happen, then Tucson is done. The least they can do is get rid if this growth that inhibits the expansion and well being of the city.
