They hate her for the same reason why the Elites hated Andrew Jackson. He was not one of THEM.

Right On! Thank you. She, like Reagan & Pat Buchanan are not owned by the elites.

Pundits such as Will, Krauthammer, Frum, Scarborough, Noonan, Brooks, Kathleen Parker, and others are part of the Beltway elites and are RINOs. They consider everyone outside there “bubble” to be ignorant bubbas from “flyover country”. Wrong.

You guys are part of the problem and refuse to be part of the solution. You are irrelevant and conservative Americans aren't going to go with RINO candidates like Bob Dole, John McCain. Mitt Romney, or Mike Huckabee.

These elites are the walking dead but they don't know it.

Ironically, these people loved Reagan and he went to this small little college in Illinois.

Why?

Oh that’s easy. Part if it is just snobbery. The other part is that she presents a threat to the status quo. She’s smart, popular, has excellent political instincts, has a fairly large base of support, and is not driven by the same motivations or agenda that the defenders of the status quo are.

None of this matter, if Ms. Palin want’s to be president all she has to do is run as the “drill now” candidate. Between that and $5 / gal. gas she is a shoe in. NOBODY will stop her. All punditry aside, she will win running away.

Why do some here trash her?

Because elitists are everywhere, not just in DC, and not just in the RAT party.

Conservative elitists may not want to tell you how to live(yet) but they are more than willing to tell you how to think...and vote.

Palin is the anti-elitist.

By your logic, until shortly before an election, even the worst long shots and most flawed candidates cannot be distinguished from the best.

Otherwise solid candidates are often denied political backing from insiders based on subjective evaluations of whether or not they are likable and present themselves well. What the insiders are looking for is the ability of candidates to persuade doubters and allay opponents.

Experience shows that negative and positive ratings early on by those who are familiar with candidates are reliable indicators of how they will later fare in an election. That is why political parties and campaigns spend large sums to have such data generated through polling and analyzed, and then use it for strategic decision-making.

Similarly, performers, companies, and brand names are rated and important decisions made based on so-called Q scores of familiarity and appeal to the public. On the whole, actors with a low Q score make less money because they are less able to draw and keep an audience.

Palin does not rate well, having high negatives among key GOP and general election swing voter groups. Blaming this on the news media, RINOs, or pretending it is not so does or that it does not matter lends an air of unreality to the Palin for President effort.

Does this mean that Palin is unelectable? Of course not. But it does mean that she and her supporters should look to remedy her defects as a politcal personality and as a presumptive candidate for President.

Take a hint from Ronald Reagan. Watch his great campaign speech for Goldwater in 1964 and compare it to his campaign speeches in 1980. The 1964 version of Ronald Reagan offered strong warnings about the future of the country, with a tone that suggested anger — call it early TEA party.

By 1980 though, Reagan’s message was similar but his tone was genial and optimistic. Late in middle age, Reagan changed his public political speaking persona from an admonitory tone like Jeremiah to the far more appealing and upbeat Gipper we remember so fondly.

In addition, Reagan reached out to opponents in the GOP and to conservative activists and intellectuals, many of whom regarded him as a lightweight. In personal meetings, they gradually came to be impressed with Reagan’s understanding of issues and ideas. Reagan converted inside the Beltway doubters into supporters.

Palin needs to do just that kind of outreach. George Will, Charles Krauthammer and other conservative critics should be courted assiduously in private and treated with the utmost respect in public. Like it or not, they and what they think matter.

In addition, Palin should change her public speaking voice to reduce its speed and lower its pitch so as to eliminate its chirpiness and connotation of flightiness and superficiality. She ought to model her public voice on the strong, even tone of Margaret Thatcher.

Palin also needs to deliver a series of meaty policy speeches to major business and political groups around the country and to write articles on such topics. She needs to make two or three major issues her own, those being the issues that she will run for President on, if that is to be her course.

Otherwise, Palin is likely headed for a humiliating defeat in the primaries, at the convention, or in the general election. Poor favorability ratings can cripple even a candidate with lots of name recognition and a devoted following, and a single off performance on the campaign trail or in a debate can unravel an entire candidacy.

Here is the problem as I see it.

To begin with Palin will never be an arrogant rino elite. That alone pisses off many of the uber rino pubbies.

But far more important is that Palin actually has most of if not all of the characteristics of a front runner.

When you look for a potus you need someone who:

1. Is charismatic

2. Has a leadership presence.

3. Can raise oodles of dough

4. Is a household name.

5. Is thoroughly loved and cherished by the base of the Republican Party.

6. Has thoroughly paid their dues and has selflessly helped dozens of other pubbies.

Sarah more than fulfills all of the above and the rino elite of the party know it.

For those elite pubbies who do bash her and then use the DBM polls as their logic for bashing her I say explain your logic.
