IMHO: These commentators see Sarah Palin as radioactive and want the face time and contributions to go to “electable” people. OTOH, Sarah would make a DYNAMITE Secretary of the Interior!!! And, she’s only in her early 50’s (late 40’s?) and 2020 is still out there for her.

These pundits believe in the power of their punditry. They believe that pundit power has the power to destroy Sarah Palin. They believe that pundit propaganda can mold the minds of the electorate into any manner of thought they want. The pundit is almighty and above the little peons like Sarah Palin and those who support her.

The pundits are very fearful they could be wrong. They are very fearful that that rain on their leg is not rain, but tea from the Tea Party. The pundits can handle a little rain, but the Tea Party and Sarah Palin turn them into pundit pinheads.

“Why do conservative elites go out of their way to trash Palin?”

At the risk of repetition, one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Envy.

its fairly simple...two words:
"Paralyzing Fear"
their actions, speak much louder, than their words.

Polling consistently shows good reason to believe that Palin is unelectable. Like much else in life, it is beside the point whether this is fair or just. It just is, and the burden is on Palin to change her negative polling and poor image with swing voters.

I LOVE Sarah. I’d love for her to win, but I’m just afraid she couldn’t. I’d go for a Pence/Palin ticket.

Why do you think Sarah can't win but Pence can? Personally, I would rather lose with Palin than win with most any other Republican. First, I believe she can win and second, I want the kind of results oriented government that her administration would bring to Washington. Those others will only continue business as usual. We need a paradigm shift away from the business as usual crowd.

You are wrong....polling data two years even months before anybody actually run is historically meaningless to determine if someone is unelectable or not, it never has in modern time of Presidential elections and THESE ELITES KNOW THIS and like a FReeper said on here, they hate her because she is not one of them so they will try to cast doubt by trashing her is their only way.....Hell, Reagan was being blown out by 26 points to a President Carter who was had 35% approval in some polls... they know history and meaningless trends

Where did anyone get the idea Krauthammer is a conservative? He worked for Carter and Mondale,I think he is brilliant, but hardly a conservative.

IMO, the folks you mentioned who have trashed Palin are not true blue, core conservatives. More like smug, condescending Republican DC elitists. First class a-holes.

My guess is, pundits like Will, Krauthammer, Frum, Scarborough, Noonan, Brooks and Kathleen Parker just don’t like Sarah Palin. So be it.

I suggest those people who do like Palin better grow some thicker skin. It’ll come in handy should she decide to run in 2012. The Palin trashing will only get worse.

“Why do conservative elites go out of their way to trash Palin?”

Because we have already picked Sarah to crush the Marxist in the White House.

Our numbers are growing daily and will swell after she announces with subsequently the biggest war chest in the history of elections. . Can't wait to see the Tsunami. . The Senate and the Presidency in 2012 + record setting numbers in the House!

2012 is a Given. I'm working to:

Those on the right who trash Palin (often unprompted) do so because, as Governor of Alaska, she committed the cardinal sin: she arrested, prosecuted, and jailed corrupt Republicans.

Now, every corrupt Republican, everyone related to a corrupt Republican, and everyone who likes or supports a corrupt Republican, knows that her success likely spells their undoing.

More generally, she is not beholden to the usual power sources, lobbyists, think-tanks or entrenched old-boy cabals within (or feeding from) those circles of traditional political power. She is a wild card. A rogue assassin. And, worst of all, she's a devout Christian. There is no greater sin one can commit in the face of the existing Political Power Stucture than to openly proclaim Jesus Christ.

You’re onto something tht’s been annoying my mind for a few minutes while reading this blog. Who decided these critics are “elites?” By what criteria?

http://www.cbsnews.com/election2010/exit.shtml?state=DE&jurisdiction=0&race=S

I have 16% Republicans for Coons from the CBS exit poll.

You might have better data on that.

Christine got 14% of the white Ds, Coons got 14% of the white Rs. So I don’t think that Christine lost that much there that she didn’t make up elsewhere. That’s a bit off topic though.

Because thats how they can get invited to the Georgetown/Upper Manhattan/Malibu cocktail parties. Once upon a time these people could trash Rush Limbaugh or christian conservatives or gun nuts to let everyone know that even though they were conservatives their not like “those” people. Today you get a ticket to the party by trashing Sarah Palin.
