The extremists on both the Left and the Right seem mad enough to go to war against the government.
Probably not going to end well.

It is going to be espeically bad for the dummy standing in the middle of the road. ;)

>> As I figured. A lefty

And a big-time lefty, at that. The link to metanoia-films.org produces a 2 hour film that at 31:49 into it features Noam Chomsky.

Last night the History Channel ran a great show about the rise of the 3rd reich through German eyes. Chilling stuff and all too familiar these days.

Do you remember the title of the program on the History Channel? I'd like to see if it's going to air again to watch it.

It was a 4 hour two part series. The first was “The Third Reich: The Rise (Through German eyes)” The second part was “The fall”.

They’re already selling the DVD. I might just get this one to keep stored away somewhere.

Your city council or government school committee might be nice guys, but in countless cities and towns, these government employed people are the absolute pinnacles of arrogance...

I don't think there will be a war unless food becomes scarce...More likely several million leaderless incidents. Just guessing though...

We were discussing why government facilities have become armed and secured fortresses...We came to the conclusion, it probably has nothing to do with Mideast terrorism. Again, just guessing.

YIKES!!!

Looking for info on when it would run again and stumbled across this gem of a thread at the DU.

So I watched 'Third Reich, the Rise" on History Channel

and TWO things really struck me.

1) Something similar CAN happen again, even here in the USA.

2) It's the uniforms. In the 1930's if you were a young person, unemployed and looking for a direction in life... and you saw these guys marching around in these cool-ass uniforms (not my opinion of their uni's) and you could JOIN that group...

It would give one a sense of belonging to a group, to a cause, to something bigger than yourself. And all your neighbors and friends would see you in the uniform too. IMHO... just as many people were drawn to the party by the allure of wearing the uniform as were attracted by the rhetoric.

The Wave: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wave_(novel)

I remember watching the television show as a pre-teen. The book was based on the show, but both were based on the Third Wave experiment. It was an eye-opener on how easily folks could be swayed.

He was shooting blanks?
I may have missed that part of the story, but if they were blanks how did he shoot/kill himself?

I think (as I remember it) he was finally taken out by a policeman or guard of some sort.
