I have to say the more I read these stories, the more I think something good may come out of it. Christmas is moving toward no longer being a public holiday. That’s not such a bad thing. Maybe I’m just getting old, self-righteous and stuffy, but I’d be very happy if people stopped spending every cent they had and maxing out their credit cards on Christmas, and if a lot of the secular symbols went away. Christmas is about the birth of Christ. Through out history, it at times has been emphasized and de-emphasized. In fact, Libs built it up because those nasty old Capitalists used to make their workers work on Christmas day well into the early 1800s.

Scrooge comes to mind with that reminder.

I make a lot of my gifts for my grands, the parents have asked us not to buy them gifts. What few gifts I do buy are usually needed/wanted clothes.

We made pocket prayer quilts in Sunday School today, quite an experience trying to teach 8 year old’s how to slip stitch around a 3 in square, attach a button, and a ribbon with a small prayer card on it.

Yep, Christians used to complain about Christmas being too commercialized, now they get in a twist because it’s not commercialized enough.....
