In reality, there is no upward mobility in India. The “caste” system has never really left India....most of the the Indians you see in this country come from the higher classes...castes

The analogies would have been good if the one about India was accurate.

- My impression from having visited India (in 2002), doing business (on a very modest level) with a company in India and meeting with lots of people of Indian origin outside of India is that there definitely is upward mobility in India of today, even if the caste system is omnipresent and individual progress in terms of achieving a higher status in the field of economy, more or less, is limited to big cities.
